Do you have an Orthodox Study Bible? It tells you what they mean. :)

Footnotes:

6:2, 3 Saints will judge the world (v. 2) and angels (v. 3) because in Christ, Christians share in His authority to judge (see Matt. 19:28; John 5:22, 27; 2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 6; Rev. 20:4). This being so, how much more are we able to judge the everyday concerns of this life (v.3).

In 6:1 it says: Before the unrighteous refers to judges of secular courts at Corinth. Paul asks, why seek justice before the unjust and not before the saints, their fellow Christians? This is the biblical basis for Church courts.

Christ says that when He comes His reward is with Him to give every man as his works shall be. This would imply that the work of judgment, as in determining the righteous from the wicked, is already complete.

During the 1000 years where the saints shall reign with Christ, many a person will be there who you wouldn't think would be there, and many a person will be missing, who you would think ought to be there. During this time all will be given the chance to view the heavenly records of those lost and understand why certain individuals did not make it.

That being done, the saints will participate in determining the punishment that will be meted out for the wicked, including the fallen angels.

On earth the Saints seem to cover the sins of their brothers and hide their faults. When they judge the world would they do the same ? Is Christ giving the Saints the chance to judge their brothers and sisters in that manner then too?
