It's not so much a "restriction" of religious practices as it is a matter of national security. When a people uses their alleged religion to hide terrorism, it's no longer a matter of "religious freedom."

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To be sure the Muslims would like nothing better then to exterminate all Christians, Jews and people other then their own faith, that is unless they can convice Christians to become Muslims, and unfortunately that is happening all too much, especially among the younger set and maybe women more so then men. It is very sad indeed that anyone should want to give up their Savior in place for of a god that hates people and makes then want to kill one another.
Their god says you have to earn righteousness. The true God and Father of all gives us complete righteousness as pure grace, a gift that no one has earned or deserves.
I don't understand young women who want to put themselves under Sharia law and be subject to their husbands like an animal to be beaten and killed if the man so chooses.

Not all muslims are about hate and killing. Its a radical form of muslims that believe that, they do not practice the normal muslim religion.

The weather in CT has been wacky latley. Its been like 65-70 degrees out and sunny. Usually by this time of the year it starts getting ugly. But Im sure the cold dark days on their way. Im not a fan of the winter, but its not bad when it first starts. Around Christmas time is the only time I enjoy snow.

Thats good to hear! I swear the wind makes a chilly day 10 times worse. I can take the cold, but theres nothing worse than ice cold wind blowing in your face. And then some times my face gets wind burned, not a big fan of the wind. lol

i completely concur - i can't stand the wind either....i mean, the really really cold, whips through to the very core of you kind of wind....like you said, matt, i can take the cold, but not when it's blowing like that....
today it got to ALMOST 60*, gorgeous blue sky and sunshine....even right now, at almost 9:30, it's still 41*, so hopefully not a super cold night tonight....

It's still pouring here, has been for two days now, and in the fifties during the day. Things are getting rather soggy.
We had our first frost a few days ago, so it appears that Winter is coming in like a Lion. We'll see how sharp that cat's claws and fangs are shortly.
In the meantime, going across the creek is a bit scary. It's really full.

Has anyone else seen the movie Whitness? I love the music in it, especially during the barn raising. I often set the player on repeat for that chapter and it plays over and over whilst I'm working in the kitchen and such.
Years ago when I had horses, I had the good fortune to be acquinted with several Amish families. They were a closed book, making it almost impossible to really get to know them. Still, their way of life is very attractive to me. Sometimes I wish that I had just packed my truck up when I was in my twenties and gone back there. I would have parked on the Stolzfus' or Whitmers' doorsteps and refused to leave till they let me in. If you're that insistant, they will. 
Yes, yes, I know their society is like a strait-jacket, borderline cultish. Yes, I know their doctrines and theology are erroneous, the way of life though... I would miss instrumental music and the photos of my family a lot, yet all the same...
Sometimes I think they're a lot closer in their way of life to what God intended for us than the rest of us.

i'm sorry, but the words "cultish" and "erroneous" are not words i normally associate with the Amish.....can you please explain?
i finished making the hotdish i'm taking to church for our Reformation dinner - it sure smells good, and it looks good - i just hope it tastes good....please pray that nobody gets sick from it!!

I finished my sweet kraut last night. I had my husband taste-test and he said it didn't even taste like sauerkraut so that's good He really liked it.
The pumpkin spiced rum cake is this afternoon.

If it weren't for the Polish population increase here, I'd be hurting for real sauerkraut and dill pickles. For some reason, the Brits think pickles should be more sweet than sour and very small. They also think corned beef comes from a canning facility in Argentina, much like Spam.
Does anyone here irrigate their sinuses? If so, has it solved many of your congestion/allergy issues? It's an odd practice, but it does make a difference in congestion levels.
