  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Shazenfreude

Exactly my point. You both mean Schadenfreude, and you make another mistake...

And it's laughing at the misfortune of others. So if you're accusing me of it, then you're saying I'm laughing at your misfortune! Double whammy! :p

G-d carries out His will despite us.

He builds His Church on the Rock of revelation, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of G-d. Conflating that with a certain individual apparently hasn't been so damaging as to make His Church fail completely, but it did kill 30 times as many true believers as Hitler killed Jews.

Lord have Mercy on us all ...

dude you fail at math
about 6 million jews died in the holocaust
that times 30 is 180 million
like europe would be about as populated as north dekota if that many people were killed, because you also had wars and natural disasters and no antibiotics and the black plague and crime and wolves... people tend to forget that back in the day if you walked into the forest there was a good chance you would not walk back out
like the 180 million number is totaly fabrecated

I fail at math because it's fabrecated [sic] that over 1270 years 180 million were martyred by YOUR denomination? I've never failed at math yet, let's see:

141,732 avg / year. For such a busy lot you could at least learn how to spell, but the extent of the very unholy roman church-state could easily support that, as history proves. And it was a midget that finally put a stop to the madness!

141,732 avg / year of "true believers"
still a silly number, no historical documents back up such a huge number as being possible
before the 1517 there were not even any protestants,
in the entire history of the spanish inquisition only 150,000 were executed, many of those for being secret jews or muslims who pretended to be christian, people who learned witchcraft, athiests, and protestants
so you can not pretend like all of them were "true believers" as you put it

it is estemated that in the entire history

How did you arrive at that number? Why over 1,270 years?

Greetings. I see the peter and pope threads are being discussed ad-nauseam again so I would like to make a simple poll for ALL denominations to answer. I am not talking about if he was simply a Bishop of Rome and only for that city but a Grand Pope of all Christianity.

So this poll is quite simple "CAN CHRISTIANITY SURVIVE TODAY WITHOUT THE POPE/PAPACY OF ROME"

I voted "No, it cannot"

Happy Halloween

You're forgetting the "Roman" part of your RC, and simultaneously buying their propaganda - I mean, "infallibility." The one thing truly infallible is practices like that could not fail to produce war. And you also just made the Pr argument rather well, that all along there were multitudes who didn't go along w/ RC dogma. They weren't called Pr, nor was there any Inquisition doing the killing. Blood was spilled nontheless.

Protestants have a spotless past? They never murder, destroyed in the name of Christ?
I think ancestors of almost 30,000 people who were murdered during the Reformation's European Witch Hunt's in Germany alone would say different.

Hmmm you say you were good at math but how about history;)

Albegensians are Protestants now?
Arians are Protestants now?
Muslims are Protestants now?

Sounds like a reinvention of The Trail of Blood.
:)
If Muslims were to be considered Protestants, then technically, so are the Jews of today ehehe :p
