  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Reason why Christians Sin!

Born again and saved Christians still keep on sinning because they were born sinners and we have a sinful nature. Paul explained that he kept on sinning because it was THE SIN IN HIM causing him to sin, but he HATED to sin. He didn't say he kept on sinning because he liked it, he said he sinned and he hated it.

Did you ever notice in Rom 7:15 Paul was saying that he hates what he was doing and not doing what he wanted. Paul wrote that many years after having been saved, yet he was still sinning terribly. Paul taught that “the sin in me” is causing me to sin.

Romans 7:14-8:1
14 The law is good, then. The trouble is not with the law but with me, because I am sold into slavery, with sin as my master. 15 I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do the very thing I hate. 16 I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong, and my bad conscience shows that I agree that the law is good. 17 But I can’t help myself, because it is sin inside me [THE SINFUL NATURE] that makes me do these evil things.
18 I know I am rotten through and through so far as my old sinful nature is concerned. No matter which way I turn, I can’t [I CAN'T DO IT!! HE IS NOT SAYING HE IS REFUSING HE IS SAYING HE CANT - THIS IS THE WAY WE ARE AS SINNERS] make myself do right. I want to, but I can’t. 19 When I want to do good, I don’t. And when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway. [HE IS SAYING THAT EVEN WHEN HE TRIES TO DO THE RIGHT IN HIM THAT THE SINFUL NATURE MAKES HIM DO THE WRONG] 20 But if I am doing what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing it [IT'S THAT SINFUL NATURE DOING IT SO I AM NOT GOING TO BLAME MYSELF ANYMORE - BLAME THE FALLEN SINFUL NATURE] ; the sin within me is doing it.
21 It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another law at work within me that is at war with my mind. This law wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
He seems to be saying here that we are all stuffed - including himself because he was writing about his own experience. Paul blames the sinful nature as if it is another person inside of us who is stronger than us and wins. The harder he tries to fight this sinful nature the more he loses and then feels miserable!

But then the answer comes .... it is Jesus!!! even whilst i am fighting and losing to the sinful nature i am still accepted and not condemned because i belong to Jesus!! Jesus accepts me whilst Ii am unacceptable therefore this means that i can accept myself because I am unacceptable and put the blame on the sinful nature inside of me.

The difference between a lost person and a saved person is that lost people don't care when they sin against God. But saved people do care and that they sinning!

Let me tell you what happened to me... When I was lost and before I knew Jesus, I would sin, sleep around with many different women, lie and deceive people, and not care, it never bothered me.

But once I invited Jesus into my heart, all of a sudden, I hated sin and hated what I was doing, and what I wanted to do that I was not doing. All of a sudden I had a conscience. That is evidence of a true and sincere conversion and salvation experience. The same applied to Paul, he said he now hated what he was doing. But before that he was killing Christians and didn't care!

Paul explained it very well to us that is is the SIN IN US that causes us to sin, but once we are born again, we hate sinning, and we are in a constant inner battle.

Galatians 5:17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

If you sin and it doesn't bother you, then I would be concerned for you that you have never been born again.

But if you have a conscience, and if you hate sinning, then that is a good sign you are already born again and sealed with the Holy Spirit and saved.

Well, I guess we as Christians need to remove the scriptures out of the Bible that says:

Matthew 5:37-6:1 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect , even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect .

And this scripture also:

Philippians 2:1-8 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you , which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

...Be ye therefore perfect , even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect .
.

Not perfect in behaviour or thoughts, perfect in attitude towards sin.

You have never properly understood what Jesus and Bible and Matthew taught if you claim Matthew 5:48 means we are demanded to become perfectly sinless in thought and behaviour!

Can you name a single person in the world today who is perfectly sinless in thought and behaviour? Yes or No?

Guess we need to remove more scriptures than.

Luke 6:39-49 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye. For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Watch out for the ditch.

Not perfect in behaviour or thoughts, perfect in attitude towards sin.

Maybe, many Christians do not know how to use the weapons that were given us to fight with.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

No one is righteous. Perfection is attained at death for Christians.

Amen! We are only counted perfect through Jesus.

Colossians 1:28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

Guess we need to remove more scriptures than.

...

What you need to remove is your doctrinal errors and your wrong interpretation of the Scriptures.

We are perfect IN CHRIST, we are saved IN CHRIST, only God is PERFECT, but we can be "perfect" in attitude towards sin!

You have failed to grasp and fully understand what the word "perfect" means in context for a believer, and the reason I believe you are confused and deceived on this topic is that you have been brainwashed and conditions for a gospel of works and legalism. You believe God can only accept you and save you if you perform good or "perfect" works.

You have never been properly taught OR never properly understood the gospel of grace.

If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts.-1 John 1:10.

:amen:

Ecclesiastes 7:20 There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.

Yet we have a solution... in Jesus. Faith in Jesus saves us. Once we place our faith in Jesus we are credited and imputed Jesus' perfection and are now legally perfect because we are "IN CHRIST".

By the way, love your glasses, I have similar ones

I am not claiming I have not sinned although I do what Philippians says.

Philippians 3:14-15 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

I guess many are not crucified with Christ and not allowing Him to live.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 4:13-15 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

You just contradicted yourself again. You claim to be perfect but then you admit you are a sinner.

So which is it?

1. Are you a perfect 10 Commandment keeper? Yes or No?

2. OR, are you a sinner and 10 Commandment breaker? Yes or No?

I did not contradict myself. If you believe that than you do not rightly divided the word of truth.
Why would you agree with the 10 commands when that was the old testament, and we live in the new testament. You wish to live in the old, go right ahead and live by the law, I live in the new where Christ is savior and King.

Again we do not live under the old, I hope you truly understand that. He that lives by the law shall die by the law.

How many in the scriptures lived "perfect" I will wait for your reply.

You have totally ignored my questions and refused to give a direct Yes or No. and I suspect the reason is that you tremble in fear off me and my questions.

I will try again to get a direct answer from you, and before you reply this time, read this verse first:

Matthew 5:37 Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

So now with that in mind, please answer these questions with a Yes or No.

I answered, I do not live under the Old Testement, do you?
If you do, do you not eat pork? What about all the other laws under the old testement, do you follow them?
Let your yeas be yeas, and your nays nays.
Why would I fear your questions? Why would I fear you?

You refuse to answer my questions, do you tremble in fear me?

Let me try again using a different question.

Which of the 10 Commandments are we free to willfully violate and break in the New Testament?
