In the past I have had a lot of up and downs with my struggle with sexual lust. There are days I touch more than once a day, but there are also weeks I can go without any sexual urges. There are times I can control my lust, but there are times I just give in and not try anymore. This morning, I am feeling guilty and I am seeking a brand new start, another brand new start.

How many brand new starts can I seek? How many times will God forgive me for committing sexual lust on purpose?

Just remember only God's strength not your own can help you defeat it.

No matter how far you have fallen or how many times, I find God is always willing to restore you.

I would recommend praying, getting others to pray for you, going to church, listening to Christian bands. Your still quite young, I'm sure a lot of young Christians have that difficulty, don't feel bad.

The sooner you reach out to God, the sooner things start getting better, even though it may be really tough sometimes. My only regret is not being a serious Christian sooner I think my life would have been a lot better, still I am at peace which in the past I never would have been.

It's never too late too start again guitarintro, I will pray for you brother.

God's grace is sufficent for you...Thank Him, that he has forgiven all your sins and redeemed us from the curse of the law.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me
2Cr 12:9

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:
Galations 3:13

When you become more concience of God's grace
you become less concience of sin, and your realize there is nothing we can do to merit God's grace, it is a free gift.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Ephesians 1:7

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

We all sin and come short of the glory of God, that is why we needed a savior...
strive to yield yourself to God, to seek his righeousness. The more of God we let into us, strengthens our faith, because faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Then you will have faith to believe we are no longer enslaved by sin, but free... by God's grace. The blood of Jesus is your covering.

Gal 5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Have you sought out Christ's strength? IT sounds as if you are still trying to do this in your own strength. I would pray that God takes this away from you, but if this is your favorite sin, which you cherish, there will be no victory any time soon. TO become an overcomer, you have to see the sin as God sees it.. and abhor it.

Thanks for the responses all. I am currently in the midst of finding the right church, so my spiritual group has not been that strong these days. I am also trying to find a group that I am more comfortable with. That is also an area in my life I need guidance.

I came across this: What is "the unpardonable sin?" How does sin become "unforgivable?" - ChristianAnswers.Net

Near the end section, it said and quote:

The real danger arises, however, when one can continually violate God's law and never feel the slightest remorse over his rebellion. The Bible's warning should jolt the spiritually flippant out of their complacency:"
"It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God" (Hebrews 10:31).
"Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon" (Isaiah 55:6).

How many times we can be forgiven , depends largely on how forgiving we ourselves are towards others .

And not ironically , one of the main things which contribute to being enslaved to sin , is the same hardness of heart which holds on to grievances ... for what else is our perpetual sinning saying to us but , we have absolutely no right whatsoever to judge any other with wrath , indignation , or thoughts of revenge ?!

Hence , a large part of obtaining the victory over sin , has to do with becoming a merciful , compassionate + longsuffering person towards others who are held captive to error .

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. <-----> Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. <-----> Luke 6:36

Both the above statements in Scripture are renditions of the same saying by Christ in His Sermon on The Mount .

May we perceive and make the connection , to The Lord's Glory !

Well I was going to say
7*77 = infinity because 7 is used in the bible when referring to the whole of everything
but instead I'll just quote them because this is true and worth repeating.

Once I heard it said that if you think you have committed the unpardonable sin then you haven't. The bible mentions what it is which is blaspheming against the holy spirit. I was never sure what exactly that meant but what I now believe it means basically is if you reject God you can't be forgiven. This means it can be forgiven by becoming a christian. I don't believe the question relates to sexual sin.

What the bible does say is that if we repent and are sorry for our sins then we will be forgiven. Repent means turn away from. So as long as you genuinely turn away from the sexual sin you will be forgiven. God knows we will fail but each time we do he does not look up a book of records and say hey but you just repented of that last week now your doing it again. Rather if you were to say I've done it again God will say done what again? I don't remember. That is what forgiveness is.

hope this helps.
Good luck with finding a spiritual home. Please also let me say when doing so don't ignore older people. I went to a bible study where the age range was 25 to 72 years old. The wisdom the older people had from life experience and also the different perspective they had taught me so much which helped me grow greatly as a christian. So don't ignore people your own age but don't ignore older people either. Take the time to earn their trust and find the ones with a strong faith and learn from them.

If Satan hadn't deceived Adam and Eve, the selfish pleasure of sin would not be an addiction. God would have created adult men and women already born into marriage. I believe that there would be no children or child pregnancy because if God created Adam and Eve as adults already as partners then he would create many men and women born already as partners in marriage. Nobody would be single and waste their lives with masturbation that is self-love with a fantasy partner from your imagination. I believe sex was never suppose to happen between Adam and Eve if they avoided Satan's deceit. There is a spiritual pleasure that is on a higher level than sexual pleasure, spiritual pleasure that lasts forever - it is something that we have yet to experience when we become transformed into new bodies in heaven.

Replace "sexual lust" with "coveting", and you'll see that we all sin on a regular basis. In Romans 7, Paul uses coveting as an example of how futile it is to use following the law as a means of salvation:

For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet." 8But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead. 9Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.

And we can all identify with this:
14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

I believe that he chose coveting in this example because it is the sin that we keep on committing over and over. And over. It manifests itself in all kinds of greed and discontent. Lust is essentially one type of coveting. Through our sanctification process, the Holy Spirit will help us to reduce these covetous urges (lust and otherwise), but they will still be with us to some degree for the rest of our lives.

So, no... there is no limit. The only way to "fail" is to give up and reject the Holy Spirit, thus allowing your conscience to be scarred to the point where you don't even notice. Keep a close relationship with God and the rest will work according to His purpose.

From my understanding, if you constantly sin to the point where you feel no remorse, then you:

1) no longer seek God's Forgiveness
2) no longer plan to change your sinful ways
3) no longer feel guilt or regret

Then that may be unforgivable. In other words, completely reject God.

However, if you feel remorse, then you will:

1) continue to seek God's Forgiveness
2) acknowledge your sin and plan to move away from it
3) accept God's Forgiveness and through Him you change

Then forgiveness is there.

What do you guys think?

guitarintro, if you are sorry about your sin and invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in your body, and know that He is right there with you, would you sin again, dishonor Him, and give Him reason to turn away from you?

Have you ever read Romans 12:1, which says, "I beseech you therefore, brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."?

Don't do number counts of sins. Why? Jesus has already dealt with them 2000 years ago. We just cannot undo what He has already done.

And I am quite sure that God's attitude towards masturbation is most likely to be quite a bit different from what many hold to, because that involves trying to second guess something God is not at all specific about.
