  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I grew up loving the Jackson 5 cartoons and their music was awesome and then when Michael took off in his career... he was amazing... and I will miss him. This world is worse off without him. Praying for his family and for him.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

I remember being in grammar school, 5th grade and once a week old Mrs O'Hara would very quaintly tell us to move all our desks to the sides of the room. She cleared the floor, and this song blew me away, she let us kids all just get up and kick it.

It was dance hour: Everybody get up !

YouTube - Jackson 5 - ABC (Full song)

That is one of my favorite songs that he sings in. :)

I still love this song and my iPod is loaded with about 20 Michael Jackson tunes; the most of any artist. If you go to iTunes, he's stacking the deck and his videos dominate the top 10. Because I didn't have any videos on my iPod of his, I downloaded a couple. Thriller is a true classic. Michael changed the world of music and dance forever. You CANNOT listen to his tunes and not want to move and groove. He just had the effect on you.

Love and miss you Micheal!

RIP!:crossrc:

The actor comedian, Dick Gregory, was on the radio this morning, and he talked about his time with MJ, and how he tried to help him. Gregory said that his impression of MJ was that he was a 5 year old bold in an adult body and this was the result of becoming a star too soon in his life. He didn't know how to be a normal child, but rather, was put into the entertainment business, where his ego grew beyond his ability to control it. As all stars, when the lime light started to fad a little, he'd panic and do weired stuff in order to drawn attention back to himself.

We're seeing the same sort of behavior in Britaney Spears and others, who became stars very early in their life. They haven't got the maturity to handle it, and it ruins them.

Anyway, RIP Michael Jackson. May God's peace be upon you.

I always have and always will love him and his music. My mom used to put on his concerts and funny music videos just to pacify me when i was a little baby. I still have all those tapes and i'm sitting here looking at them with tears knowing we'll never hear from him again.

Michael Jackson always reminded me of why I didn't want to be famous. It was always sad to see a man with his talent go astray because of all the pressure.

Even with the child abuse allegations - whether they are true or not, I always got the impression that he truly didn't understand what he had done wrong.

Yes, it's called narcissim and I posted about this a couple of weeks ago. It truly is a mental disorder.

Police are looking for his Dr. They found his car in Micheal's driveway and impounded it. No sign of the Dr.

I think there could be a medical malpractice suit in the offing.

I never knew what to think of all his scandals.
But may the Lord give him mercy...and hoping they weren't true.

:crossrc: Praying for him today [and Farrah]

WA, I truely believe he was innocent, and I say this as someone who believed the press reports.:(
God forgive me for judging him.
Not that he wasn't "strange", because he was, but when you take into account his life......
He never had a chance to be "normal", shoved into show-biz at 5 yrs. old.

I've heard the press admit, the negative reports about Michael meant ratings.
It was all about ratings!! Even now, in his death, it is all about ratings.

God forgive me, I believed the lies about him.
And it is only now, I realize, the press duped me.
May God have mercy on his soul.:crossrc:

Anything and everything surrounding Michael was about money, as far as the
press reports go, the publicity, the law suits, etc.
Everyone wanted to make a dime off Michael. And they did.

I believe he was a gentle soul, destroyed by this world.
I think God will have mercy on this man, who never had a chance at a normal life.
By the tender age of 10 years old, he lost himself, as the world took him over.

Even so, he gave us his all, his life devoted to hard work, giving everything he had to give.

He was, at one time, representative of the best and the worst of what it is to be an American Icon.

Well, I am feeling very sad tonight, that no one could help him, that no one was able to save him from himself.
That he lost his life, when it could have been saved, if only the people around him had been more aware.

What a sad sad ending for a man who gave us so much.:(

I so agree.

And I too believe that the horrid lawsuit took a lot out of him. The world and his "handlers" did him no favors. IMO, he was far too gentle a person to be accepted in this world.

May he rest in peace.

I still find it hard to believe, I keep thinking someone will say "it was all a big mistake, Michael is fine."

I try to put myself in his shoes, and there's no way I could have held up under the lawsuits he faced.
He stayed out of the public eye, for so many years, I believe because he was suffering emotional pain due to the lawsuits.

Well, he is gone now.:( May he rest in peace, may God have mercy on his soul.

Actually, he was not wanted after the lawsuits and he moved to England for a while, if i can remember the 1st incident was awarded a shut up payment.
I have to wonder [regardless of the parents] if a child could be made to lie with such believability. But i dont think we will ever know.

Anyway - he may have been confused, tormented, and reaching for something, but he defintely was a bit off.

I cannot judge him, and only can pray and hope he finds rest eternal. I want that for everyone.

He converted to Islam last year

I didnt know that. I did know he was raised a JW.

shut up payment.

Actually it was more of a "I can't take it anymore--you people are mean and nasty" payment.

And about the child in question, I heard that he was coached by his greedy mother (who had done this before to others.) MJ was acquited so I guess the court didn't believe.

I hate some of the news media dragging up all the negative stories now. Good grief! Don't they have any consideration for the breaved family? It's gotta be so hard for them to listen to all the public stuff day after day! And think of his three children! First they lose their loving father, then they get to hear their dad being trashed day in and day out and then they get to be treated like meat with the question of "who will get the kids?" (I even heard that the woman who gave up her parental rights and hasn't seen them for years now wants to take two of the three away from the family they have known!) I can't help it, I just think that's awful.

The whole parenting thing, i dont understand. I suppose this is one reason surrogate materity is wrong.
And now would wonder who would have the children, altho to be honest, i dont watch tv and have no idea what all is being talked about now.

I saw briefly online that his children have a legacy of debt, however; i am sure the concert tickets will be a hot commodity now and his albums have had a resurge in sales, and all sorts of memorabelia will probably be out now to accomodate their being raised.
In some odd way - was the whole point i am sure to his getting ready for a world tour. I doubt he imagined things turned out the way he hoped, and unfortunately it takes a tragedy to get things right for your loved ones.

Which mother coached? The 1st incident or the 2nd?

I could see his conversion from JW to Islam tho, since both see Jesus as a human.
