  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have any of the creationists here done the following?

A person runs into problems when they try to interpret the bible literally. Kind of a contradiction in itself.
Psalm 93 --- Hebrew poetry.

Indeed they are, but stand in front of one, and you'll get the idea of just how "immovable" they are.
You mean "unstoppable" not "immovable."

Now if something is already moving, it is obviously movable, correct?

Evolution is more fiction than science so maybe it is the "sci" that should be dropped.

I guess really we should call religion Bi-fi. There is no science in it at all. No reality either.

But since "evolution is fiction" why dont you make yourself famous by disproving it? Dont be modest. At least tell me the secret so I can make myself famous.

No, I mean "immovable".

I'm not talking about stopping a train by standing in front of it.

I'm talking about altering it on its course.

In other words, the earth cannot be moved out of its orbit --- nor can its rotation be slowed.

Then, let's be more precise: The Earth's vector and orbit is unalterable is what you're saying. Of course that's not what I'm asking.

So, again, the earth is moving, yes?

The Bible also says that to God a day is like a year and a year is like a day so that His 6 days could very well have been several billion years.
So angiosperms flourished in the dark for several billion years?

Yes --- if I remember my formulas right, Conservation of Angular Momentum, as it applies to planets in orbit is mass x velocity x radius of the orbit.

This is why the earth slows down @ perihelion, to compensate for the longer radius.

And it speeds up @ aphelion to compensate for the shorter radius.

Since the mass doesn't change, the velocity changes to compensate.

So, again, the earth is moving, yes?
Yes.

Yes.
Now, the Earth's vector can be affected by a meteor, comet, or other celestial body of sufficient mass, correct?

This is false. Indeed earth has been hit in the past and its rotation altered.

Not that I know of --- not according to Psalm 93:1.

I don't have to disprove something that hasn't been proven.

Not that I know of --- not according to Psalm 93:1.
From dictionary.com:
"1. Incapable of being moved; firmly fixed; fast; -- used of material things; as, an immovable foundatin. Immovable, infixed, and frozen round. --Milton.
2. Steadfast; fixed; unalterable; unchangeable; -- used of the mind or will; as, an immovable purpose, or a man who remain immovable.
3. Not capable of being affected or moved in feeling or by sympathy; unimpressible; impassive. --Dryden."
So, your definition of immovable is not that of the English language?
