CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would if there was some data to go with it. I would teach about Noahs Ark if someone found it. Id say evolution was wrong if someone found a precambrian bunny. Id say there was a great flood if there was data to support it.
As it is multiple millions of data points for geology / evolution etc, and zero data for the creo story.. I go with the data.
That may be the biggest difference between a creotheologist and people who like to think in terms of evidence and data.
My understanding from what I read here is that NO physical evidence would ever make any difference to what a theocreo believes.

But one thing's for certain --- you guys can't explain what a miracle is.
You're so caught up in the physical world, you can't fathom what something supernatural is.
The best you guys can come up with is "magic" --- and that's way off the radar.
Go ahead --- [try and] impress me with Plate Tectonics, ERVs, and String Theory --- but if you deny Jesus walked on water --- your chatter don't matter.

If there was solid data for those things and the head of the university wanted to interfere with the adademic freedom to discuss that, he'd be the one having problems not me.
Miracles are not real, so there is nothing to explain. Can you explain the alien base on the other side of the moon?
Every culture and society has their claims of supernatural events, miracles magic whatever you care to call them. Endless dreary parade of fakers of every stripe, astologers, psychic surgeons, card readers, spoon benders, prophets and so on apparently ad infinitum.
None their claims can be demonstrated to be real. Anyone who could do so repeatably in controlled conditions would be a world wide sensation.
I dont know why people like to believe in things that can in no way be detected or shown to be real. I also dont know how those things get elevated in their minds to the level of Higher Truth.
I dont know why people thing the miracles of their faith are real and none of the others are, but thats what they all do.
Finally here, as for "caught up" in something, anyone who is not open to new ideas is the one who is caught up in something and cant see beyond it.

super natural is just another world for unfalsifiable or beyond natural. It goes in the same category as fairies and the bogyman.
That said their are some supernatural things i wish existed that are unfalsifiable, but I'm not going to compromise my intellectual integrity over it.
