Unlike other faith community forums, there are no statements of belief or general descriptions. All we have are "bridge builders" and "moderate Christians" and those are ambiguous and left undefined. Also, there is a link to the original post requesting the forum but the link has long since expired. There are as many people asking questions or discussing what the forum is about as there are people discussing other issues. Bridge building between what? Between Christians and non-Christians, between liberal and conservative Christians, between anyone? Moderate what? Moderate in tone, moderate as in religiously or politically moderate? I personally feel that if you do come up with a definition, that the forum shouldn't just be about civility and nothing else (especially because most of the forums require civility anyway!) My suggestion is under the "my definition of moderate" post but it's just a suggestion, and in any event, any definition is better than no definition!

Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The moderate forum exists for those who do not feel they fall neatly under the category of liberal or conservative, though there are those who post both here and either WWMC or CC. That's it. No FSGs. It's felt that the site wide rules are sufficient.

I'm mostly (but not entirely) conservative in theology, but moderate on social issues and libertarian in politics. I can fit in passably well in a number of forums, but I wanted a place where I could just be myself.

I like the not squaring off, the noted absence of an us-against-them way of thinking. Here, all opinions and views are valid, even those that are disagreed with. There is no anti-anything sentiment.
