The days should be literal days, and the record a literal record. It is wrong to try to fit evolutionary time spans to days, it does not make sense anyway; as the days do not corispond to evolutionary time spans of any kind. The seven days (including the Holy day) corrispond to the number of the Holy Spirit, which is seven.

Rev 4:5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.

Rev 5:6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Hello, DOR --- nice to meet you again ---
To all christians:
Do you think that the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth in the Bible is metaphoric or should be taken literal?
As literal as your phone book.

Hey AV1611VET. Nice you meet you again too :)
But why do you think that it is literal?
Jesus took it literally:
Mark 10:6 said:
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
Mark 13:19 said:
For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Yes but dont you think that a God with infinite power would created everything in a instant instead of spacing it out in 7 days? Just curious.

God wanted creation to describe himself; God is a seven fold spirit. Meaning he is made up of seven distinct personalities. Info on the seven fold nature of God can be found at Xspect Hope So he chose seven days in honour of the Holy Spirit.

How does Quotes from the Gospel of Mark support your post that Jesus took it literally?
Because this is Jesus, Himself talking to His disciples --- and mentioning "the Creation".

But isn't it six days because on the 7th he rested?

The bible says God sanctified the seventhday (made it Holy).

Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

It is also a picture for us to look at, i.e. the Holy Spirit (seven) gives us rest from our labours.

But if he is a all powerful being then why does he need to rest. Because if he is all powerful he doesn't become tired. Thus resting is not needed. So why did he rest on the"7th day"?

The Hebrew word used has adittional meanings other than rest:

shaw-bath'
A primitive root; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

It can also mean to leave ones work. Not to physically rest.

I would prefer to say it is myth (ie narrative designed to tell the big truths) rather than history.

I was offline when you posted that :)
But I did look at the site today. A dozen or miracles out of the hundreds of millions of suffering people doesn't really change anything.

I was hoping it would change you. If you realised that God still heals, like this man has shown; then maybe you too could become as he is and put an end to the suffering of those who he prays for.
