• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That is too bad dave I took ceramics years ago and loved it. The tooth pots sound intriguing, any pictures? Jan

Possibly back, from biscuit firing next Tuesday
when so, I will post pics...of, before and after... 'glazing'

The horse profile will be dipped in clear glaze
[prior to firing]
this, to give a shiny glass-like finish, over, all colours applied

I should, get that back, in one or two weeks

No it wasnt... they had hoped to remove him more easily
but his delivery was delayed despite the efforts to tease him out
there was no time for pethidine when he went quite cyanose
and secateurs made a nasty mess of the perineal buttocks
The scream from my wife caused me to declare
to the houseman /midwife, "that's hurting her"
when, he replied,
"if you are going to be a problem, I will have you taken outside"
my wife was wringing my hands
He was taken away and cleaned up and efforts were being made
to resucitate him before rushing him off to ICBU in an incubator

There he stayed for six weeks getting stronger every day
the catgut used to secure my wife's inside [inside]
was thicker in diameter to that, used on a tennis racquet

He suffered through early schools with ADHD
and went to three special schools from primary onwards
We tried him in a sheltered workshop [practical learning]
but was a danger to himself and other 'trainees'
and the workshop had to exclude him

Thank goodness for computers... at-last something
that would engage and occupy his latent abilities
first with games and then with understanding setups
and then building his own from parts ordered in over the internet
He gets Disability Living Allowance and attendance allowance

Goodness, Dave, that birth sounds like it was horrendous.
I'm glad he found a niche as it were, evntually, for his talents.
Sometimes, that is hard..for example, my son wanted to do motor mechanics..they would have accepted him on a couese, but his Maths and Eng just weren't up to scratch (having had the hearing probs and needing to go to a special school himself.)

It's such a shame , because he's so good with things manually and thinking out solutions to practical problems...and yet because he falls down on the Eng/Maths thing, he hasn't been able to do what he'd love to have been able to do.

I tell you what, if I were stranded on a desert island with my son, he'd soon have shelter fixed up..I'm sure he'd figure out ways of catching fish or whatever, and he's got so many good qualities, he's a great asset, as it were, and very caring...sorry going on abit now LOL

Yes... it is natural

[when finding one's self 'up the creek without a paddle' ?]

to lean on an experienced person
to emulate others,
doing, what needs to be done to learn
where, the need, to achieve /get-on / manage [succeed]
will 'invent' understanding via other routes
than those used by the majority of their peers

'Middle' children, it has been said, often display behavioural problems
because of a probable inability, to deal with
the 'power and ability' of, its older sibling
and also with the attention demanding 'mother-time' of it's younger sibling
iow: frustrating moments at the hands of the older sibling
and: deprivation of... the attention,
the younger sibling are now, getting INSTEAD of, who is missing 'just that'

Jealousy and frustration, then being, the 'provocation'
that has provoked..the naughty behaviour..
which is a displayed response [learned, in self-defense]
iow: attention-seeking, albeit; nasty-attention, but, for attention's 'sake'
and whilst the child has your attention
the child has at this time
removed your attention from the younger sibling for the time being [success!!!]
We have all seen children kick and scream
as a parent attempts to maintain a direction, that is not the child's intention ?
So, the middle child, will throw a tantrum when teased
or, frustrated by the older sibling
this brings a 'protective parent'
to make that child, the centre of attention
the older sibling are prevented from frustrating further
the child will receive sympathy [attention] or chastisement [also attention]

Love, is the answer, in so many [when not-all] scenarios
'lessons' need to be tailored to suit 'individuals'
Back in the 'early days' there was no support for these children
24/7 monitoring, is often essential when the child
doesnt share the same clock as it's siblings

A camp fire on the bedroom carpet,
kindled with used lollipop sticks, was a near miss for, us all

Yes a loving young man came out of his-beginnings
Our Lord is merciful
