Yes, laughable indeed.

I thought it was hilarious when pro-war people fumed over anti-war Americans because of bad policies regarding a meaningless war which did nothing but push America further into debt....The anti-war people could not convince the last messiah to stop that madness.

The thread is about Obama. If you want to start a new thread about Bush. go ahead.

Are we not talking about bad policies? That seems to be the point of the thread. If we can attack Obama's bad policies it is perfectly acceptable to compare his bad policies to Bush's bad policies in order to point out the blatant double standard oozing from this thread.

The democrats who opposed Bush's bad policies were branded as unpatriotic and anti-American. Seems fair to project the same to all opposer's of Presidential policies.

Please, people! This is ridiculous! Nobody said anything about a "Messiah" before a conservative member mentioned it in this thread. Can we not discuss Obama and his policies without getting into that bitterness?

No matter our political beliefs, I think we can all agree that we want the country to succeed. Opposition to Obama's plans to help the country isn't treason, but when the President fails, the country fails. I don't think any one of us wants to see that.

There's no need to endlessly rehash old bitterness from the election. Let's stay on an adult level here.

I want Obama to succeed just like I wanted Bush to succeed and all of our leaders to succeed.
I want the country to succeed. But 1.9trillion in spending plus 3trillion deficiet in the budget as far as Obama's term goes.
You can't spend that much imaginary money to help an economy and have
the market remain stable.

Rewarding failure is never a good thing. Encouraging people to borrow more then they can afford to pay back, doesn't help an economy. Individual or business.

I love being an American, I love my country, and I love being FREE. Obama is hurting this country and our freedom bigtime. He is spending $$$ we do not have. I repeat, he is spending $$$ WE DO NOT HAVE. It is such wasteful spending too. Millions of dollars on ridiculous things. EVEN funding ACORN (who helped get him elected). NO, I do not want him to succeed in making our government any bigger, he is making our country weak, taking away HOPE. NO I do not want government involved with my healthcare nor my families healthcare. NO, NO, NO

to you want obama to succeed and lead us down a road with government in control of health care, the bank and insurance industries as well as the auto industry...or do you want him to fail and let some of these business fail with him?

The problem with the latter is it won't just be "the bank and insurance industries as well as the auto industry". You are talking about thousands and thousands of lives; real people, middle income hard working people being set adrift. Many of which will end up in poverty.

Except ya'll complained when that happened to you. SO what, you're going to turn around and do the same thing they did to you, thus proving that you're no better than the people you oppose.

Great strategery, to borrow a line from Bush.

Nobody here or elsewhere has been branded "unpatriotic" or a "traitor" for opposing Obama's plans.

Thank you.
I want the country to succeed, but I don't believe we can borrow our way out of recession/depression. I can not agree with the path he is taking.

I truly gave him a chance, and if he changes his spending habits, I could
support him again.

I know alot of Patriotic people, but they won't be able to be patriotic enough to cover these bills when they come due. Using VP Biden's definition of being patriotic and paying your taxes.

The government is already involved in my girlfriend's healthcare. Four years ago, she got a crippling unknown progressive disease. It got to the point that she couldn't work anymore... So she lost her income and her insurance because of the disease that she needs an income and insurance to fix. Now she's on AHCCCS. She uses foodstamps to get food. She's been jumping through hoops with paperwork to start receiving Social Security.

The disease continues to get worse. She can no longer speak. Her medical bills before she got on AHCCCS were bad enough that, three years ago, her plan was to declare bankruptcy after the disease was treated.

Probably hundreds of thousands of people, but how many of the kids will pay the bill for these buyouts, loans and the ones that are just postponing the inevidable?

Bush spent $800billion to help the banks,
Obama has spent or wants to spend:
890billion stimulous package
79 billion to help people facing foreclosure
634 billion Health care reform http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/02/president-ob-17.html
700 billion more slush fund in case thebanks need more.

3.3Trillion in spending Obama has spent, and 4.1 trillion that Bush and Obama have spent.
When are we going to stop spending?

We spent so much on the war to prevent deaths of our soldiers, but we have spent more to prevent suffering then in all wars put together.

Bush admin spent like a drunken sailors, but Obama makes that look like chump change.

Truly sad. No one knows hell, until the body fails but the mind is still there. To have so much to comunicate, but be unable to speak, means finding more cumbersome means to comunicate, if possible. Sometimes people can't think of the words to comunicate.

I don't agree with all the hoops goverment makes people go through, but there is to many abusers of the system to not make it tough. IMO abusers should be forced to pay back all of the money they stole, and not qualify for benefits in the future, plus jail time.
Just think what it would be like if Goverment was in charge of everyones health care?

I don’t know what the answer is, I lean towards the let them fail camp but then when I think of, like you stated the hundreds of thousands of lives that will affect, I don’t think that is the right answer.

When are we going to stop spending?

I want AMERICA to succeed. Due to the fact that Obama is a key figure in the journey to that success, yes I hope he succeeds.
Even though I thought Bush was a bumbling maroon and a horrible (2nd and) 1st choice for prez, I still wanted him to succeed simply by dint of the fact that he was in charge.

The red tape has been a pain. She's been trying to get on social security for about 2.5 years.

The greatest problem she's had with her healthcare hasn't been the government insurance -- the government insurance has actually helped. Unfortunately, it won't pay for her to see doctors at the Mayo Clinic, and that is our biggest problem with the insurance right now.

Her biggest problem has been the doctors. She's been playing musical doctors because all the doctors keep trying to pass her off to another specialist.

My experience with doctors here in Arizona has been horrible. A receptionist at a doctors office once tried to blow off my mother by pretending to only speak Spanish. My previous doctor offered me anti-depressants when I broke up with my ex, and gave me trial drugs to reduce the swelling for a pulled muscle in my wrist (side effects said "Will cause anal leakage" - I decided that a swollen wrist wasn't as bad as a leaky anus).

Ok. Now tell me what the price of tea in China is.

Equating a centre-right candidate with socialism is a mistake that only an American can make.

And mistaking Obama for a center-right politician is only a mistake that a foreigner can make.
