  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can RCs and Protestants reconcile

Well, you see, it's the same problem with the RCC. They and YOU insist that we must run the scriptures through your imposed requirements.

I can read 1 John, see that LOVE IS FROM GOD AND GOD IS LOVE and also see then that EVERYONE who loves KNOWS GOD and is BORN OF GOD and accept it just fine thank you.

Now, you or the RCC or anyone else are perfectly entitled to see it some other way and that will just have to work for you, but it is not a requirement for 'me.' Get it? Nor does it mean you are 'more right' or 'they' are more right.

Loving our neighbors as ourselves is what is right (in case you missed it.)

IF you 'labored' in the scriptures your entire lifetime and came away with justifications to condemn your fellow man, I'd daresay it was a most worthless undertaking.

And your approach is to make a patently false equation.

NEXT!

Well then, let's see if He shows up?

enjoy!

Sorry, but we will not see eye to eye on anything in discussion. Maybe you should assert your efforts towards someone else.

Gotta love the implication that non-conservative = not born again.
Please show me a liberal who doesn't promote immorality
as good, or doesn't deny scripture authority & inerrancy
(inerrancy as in the truth it teaches isn't corrupted or false - not that a
number was inadvertantly transposed)

All of them I've seen deny the scriptures as God's truth (ie.
relative religion according to a preference of cherry picked
verses that only offer blessing, love, acceptance & eternal life) and
promote all sorts of moral perversions just for starters.

But that's going off topic and I don't want to carry this into another
topic.

You didn't call my bluff. You just made a bunch of childish and snotty comments.

A. You said you were putting me on ignore so by all means do me a favor and please exercise your power control scheme. I will feel free to observe whenever nonsense spews from your fingertips whether you engage in the conversation or not.

B. Your statements regarding the RCC not preaching the Gospel is a fine example of gobbledegook nonsense in action. They may not preach it 'like you' or 'in your expectations' as prior noted, but all that means is that they are not like YOU.

Paul rejoiced over the Gospel being preached in pretense or in truth so figure it out. Your basis for complaint with the RCC does not exist except between your own ears.

enjoy!

First of all, I AM a Christian sir, and I don't care for the implication that I'm not.

I didn't say you're not a Christian. I said that Catholics cannot articulate the Gospel and, so far, you've proven me right.

Second of all, Catholic priests attend 6 to 8 years of Seminary and receive the equivalent of a doctorate in education. The idea that they can't explain the Gospel is beyond ridiculous.

Then it shouldn't be that hard for you to find an example of a Catholic priest preaching the Gospel, should it?

For the record, as a Catholic, I can tell everyone: The Gospel is the Good News that God became a man so that we could become adopted sons of God. I doubt you will find a better, more succinct explanation of the Gospel than that.

So, if I'm an unsaved person, how is that supposed to explain to me how to be saved?

Actually, there is a very much better explanation, but I want a couple of Catholics to answer first.

Heaven forbid anyone make an appeal to love our neighbors. That is just not tolerable, particularly to reformeds positions.

That question proves that YOU are the one who doesn't understand the Gospel. Reducing God's plan down to whats in it for you (how am I saved) is narrow minded and myopic. Being an adopted son of God means much more than just being "saved"

Still wanting to argue with me?

Never wanted to to begin with. You bowed out from engagment in civil conversation leaving behind some great examples of communications problems that stem from making false equations and having a requirement to sift the scriptures through your eyes only.

So THANKS!

Um, no offense, but the headship of the Catholic church
SHOULD be preaching the gospel also....
since I don't listen to his sermons or statements, I can't say
if he has or hasn't.

I can only say that ANY Shepherd of God SHOULD be preaching
the gospel often and continually.

Ego operor teneo latin , gratias ago vos. Ego teneo latin melior quam vos teneo latin.

But that's neither here nor there. I didn't ask you for an example of your pope singing the Lord's Prayer. I asked for an example of him preaching the Gospel.

Well, since your attitude proves that you don't know what the Gospel actually is, I doubt I'll find an example that suits you. So you stick with your beliefs. Have a nice day

my, you ARE obstinante, aren't you? I already challenged you on this point in another thread, and you ran like a whipped cur, only to start it up on a thread about reconciliation.

No, actually,I never ran away from you at all. I've answered each of your posts to me and I've been a lot more polite to you than you have to me.

that is shameful.

I agree. Your false accusations are shameful.

I ask you again, who do Catholics call Lord?

Same answer I gave you last time: the same person that Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses call Lord.

I gave him a video of the pope singing scripture. He's just a hater

I guess you've only been "polite" to me since I'm not a Catholic. would it help if I put a RCC faith Icon on temporarily so you can tell me how you really feel?

the Catholic Church, despite what you think of it, preaches the gospel. Jesus Christ crucified.

They answer this question "and who do you say I am?" with the same as you and I. "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God."

end of story.
