  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Interesting. I am always curious about how could science bore people. I do not understand.
Beings as I am a student of Theology, the spiritual side of reality --- or rather --- the rule of the spiritual over the natural is what I get into.

I think God switched a light off in my head, in order to turn another one on.

[That should make fstdt.]

It is mostly the responsibility of teachers or those who do the explanation.
One can only do so much with those unwilling to learn.
While I think you make an excellent point, Juvenissun, I agree with Nathan on this one as well.

I used to read nothing but science books and magazines, including Popular Science and Scientific American.

But when I got saved, I suddenly lost all interest in science --- and I mean all.

I think that's one of the ways God changed me, and is evidence of my salvation.

Are you sure God wanted you to stop learning, or did you stop on your own?

I'd hate to see anyone's God -- even your own -- get falsely blamed for that one.

Hey, AV, I can't remember where and when. Someone said to me that there are a few other (minor) religions in which the believers also "eat" their god. I always thought this concept (analogy) is unique to Christianity. Could you enlighten me more on that? I could not find that particular post. It was just a few days ago.

Could I do search on this forum?

I believe it's a reference to what we call the Lord's Table.

There are three major ways to look at it:

  1. TRANSUBSTANTIATION --- where the bread and wine literally become the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ.
  2. CONSUBSTANTIATION --- where the bread and wine spiritually become the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ.
  3. MEMORIALIZATION --- where the bread and wine [usually as grape juice] symbolize the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ.

I do believe Juvi was referring to non Christian religions -- ones which wouldn't involve Jesus Christ in the whole "God-Eating" process.

So, you missed the "would be" elitist part. You know squat, actually, and the fact you think you do know is evidence of that.

I do know squat. But you know, it's helpful to find people who know less than me!

The proof is in the failure to post a point in English, that we can have a look at. What exactly are you claiming?

I do post in English, Dad. I just use technical terms in a technical discussion. I have made my point exceedingly clear. If you wish to call it absurd (after misrepresenting it) and then failing to correct your error, then I can do no more for you.

(At least I was man enough to admit my spelling mistake! I wish you were man enough to admit your mistakes. But I know what you really are. And perhaps your have to keep up your bluster because you secretly also realize that I know what you are.)

I disagree. Present E does not equal eternal Mass times the speed of present light squared. really. Your math is baby math, remember??

You won't ever admit you don't understand simple algebra will you? You want to talk about someone trying to impress.

Your so called geology is foolish unfounded fables as well.

Hey, Dr. Grammar: you forgot a comma there and you have a disagreement in plural-singular nouns there.

This is what you should have written:

Your so called geology is a foolish, unfounded fable as well.

Geology in that sentence is singular, so "fable" should be as well.

Just in case you are keeping track. Busted again! Your hypocrisy is astounding! (Do you like having it thrown back in your face?)

Glad you think you are clever.

I just have to be more clever than you. And that isn't very hard.

Why are you so afraid to debate? Can't you put a cohesive idea on the table, to be looked at?

I'm clearly not afraid to debate, Dad. And since I've debated with you numerous times over the course of more than a year as well as numerous others on this board, I think you need to remember that it's a sin to bear false witness! :p

Wow, you appear to have a pretty weak grasp of logic, grammar, science, math and your own religious faith! That's just sad.

Be nice now. There is more to "dad" than bluster. Nobody but nobody on this board is seen to string hyperventilated adjectives the way he does.

He has his own version of E.B. White's advice that "if you dont know how to pronounce a word, say it loud!". His is, "Since i dont know what I am talking about, I will say it loud". AKA "gasbag".

People who jump on typos are the lowest form of internet debaters anyway.

Illogical grammar and word usage, now, that messes up the prose,so that you cant tell what they are saying. (Except that they are ignorant in English as well as the subject they are talking about)

When grammar and word usage gets so bad you cant even figure out what they are trying to say, tho, that is different. That is fair game for mockery, especially since it reveals that they dont know what they are saying, or how to say it either one.

I take it you refer to the math I referred to you still don't get OK.

You cannot compare physical things with spiritual things, in an equation!! get it yet?? here is an example. If we add on spirit, one soul, that is, body and spirit, and one angel, and one apple, how many do we have? Well, math of the day is insufficient to cover that.

Likewise, when talking about, as I was, non physical only objects of a past state, one cannot limit it to present math bylaws, and rules. Now, you seem to think you are pretty clever, so let's hope you get that. If not, just be humble enough to ask for help. I'm here for you, Mat.

You won't ever admit you don't understand simple algebra will you? You want to talk about someone trying to impress.
It can't apply to spiritual eternal realities, at least when compared to present state realities. All is not equal!! You need to learn some advanced math, to cover that, and, have some inkling of what compares to what how and when, as well. Work on that, amidst all your boasting.

Geology is just one of the evo sisters, and hydra heads on the old age, godless dragon. They are legion.

Debating consists, believe it or not, in more than a declaration of being more clever that the other poster!Wow, you appear to have a pretty weak grasp of logic, grammar, science, math and your own religious faith! That's just sad.[/quote]

Glad you are impressed. I don't jump spelling, if you read my posts. I had to look up the term Mat was referring to, since it sounded like one thing a bit, but I found it meant another. So, I have every right to bring clarity, to the muddied waters of those that think they are clever, but can't clearly ans simply make a point for all too look at. Even if I know what they mean, I will make an issue of it, for the sake of lurkers.

There are hardly enough words of color to string together, to describe the foolish notions of the naysayers of the bible, and their cunningly woven fables. Don't blame me for shooting at sitting ducks.

no one is stoping you. go ahead. Its good to know that you reject evidence even before its presented. how noble and educated of you.

I said, IF it were presented, I would attack or question it. That is noble enough, considering that I believe any so called evidence that could be presented against God is false. If it were not false, why would it fear attack??? get a grip.

Id say it is a good thing you are trying to do, up to a point.

I think you are going about it way wrong. A successful search requires intellectual honesty. I dont think you have that figured out yet. Im not saying that to be nasty, its just how it looks to me.

A search for a predetermined "truth" is a search that even faintly resembles science. Changing the meaning of words in your mind to make them fit isnt a good approach either.

As long as you do things that way you dont have a chance.
pretending the universe was the same state in the far past, and buiding on that unsupportable foundation is a 'search for a predetermined "truth"'!

Good. It is a problem because the common sense (science) said that the growth of plant needs sunlight. But the sun is made after the plant (on earth).

Oh! Is that all?! That is easy. There was light, just not a sun yet. In heaven, remember we, and plants need ni light of the sun. If we stop assuming that plants operated as they now must do here, and now, that is no problem. Same thing with a tree growing fruit each month, a different kind of fruit at that! The spirit of God (He that lights the New Jerusalem, no less, where we have no need of the sun) hovered over the earth at the timme. If you need more detail, just ask.
