A concept is an idea, or a thought. Morality isn't a concept or a thought. It is a set of governing rules laid out by the King of kings.
The bible is not the basis of any laws and cannot be used as such.

Really? So you're saying there are no absolutes? What's perversion to me might be ok for someone else and that's just fine?
Yes as long as you do not use your opinions to dictate what others can or cannot do.

The victim of a rapist might disagree with you.

There are indeed moral absolutes. There is a line that must be drawn. Your issue is that God has drawn the line far shorter than you would personally draw the line, but if He did not it would never get drawn. Because someone would always say that such and such isn't going to far.
But none of those thing you find repulsive are illegal and the bible does not dictate law.

the ark is in ethiopia underneath a ton of sand....no ones gonna find it, and if they do, they probably won't be able to recognize it....

saving the rainforest = important

theres no such thing as saving the world from homosexuality; we all know we would all die if the rainforests dissappeared; homosexuality has been here since any ancient civilization. if it was a threat to humanity, it sure hasn't caused global extinction, much in the way global extinction would follow the eradication of the rainforest.

so, really, lets all just save the rainforest; its way more worth in effort....homosexuality has been here forever; yet, people are still here; we're not dead.

But no rainforrest = no people

homosexuality = people are still alive

hmmmmm. I'm leaning towards the fact that the rainforests are a little more important than eradicaition/extermination of homosexuals.

I already tried this line. I am yet to receive a response for it.
Ive been here for quite a while
I have yet to receive a reasonable response as well
But I keep putting it out there
Right along with "Creationism is idiocy", and "You cannot demonstrate any deity", and "Your morality is just as subjective as mine".

Stick around for a while and you'll find yourself repeating yourself against the religious majority as well.
And you'll get the same "nuh-uh" replies as well ~sigh~

I find sour cream to be absolutely repulsive. The flavor makes me vomit.

I don't mind if you like sour cream, but I absolutely refuse to eat anything you put it on.

I completely disagree that are morals are pretty much the same as they were three thousand years ago, but then again, I suppose I am talking to someone who quotes morality from leviticus. ^_^

Let me give you a list of changes in morality between Leviticus and now:

1) Nobody sacrifices bulls to God anymore.
2) Nobody cares if you shave your beard.
3) Women are not to be bought and sold, they have the same rights as a man. Women are people just like you.
4) Eating shellfish and pork is not considered immoral, because we know that pork and shellfish arn't dangerous to eat if you cook them properly.
5) It's OK to be Gay.

an incomplete list, of course.

1) Not exactly what I would call an issue of morality, but ok... There is no need to sacrifice bulls or anything else because God Himself was bolted to the tree. He's the one who changed that standard.

2) God gave this command because cutting the hair off of the temples was a pagan practice of worship. (The "corners" of the beard were the temples). Part of what God wanted of Israel was for them to be entirely set apart in all things including customs from the nations and tribes around them.

3) That's not new. They've always had the same rights according to scripture as a man has had.

4) God didn't want them eating fish because it was a health concern. Toxins get trapped between the shell and the flesh of the creature and can cause issues. They don't get trapped between flesh and scale.

5) Is it? I'd say after the latest round of voting that's not entirely true. Even in a Godless nation like the United States. If memory serves gays are batting 0 having lost 3 of the 3 votes this past November.

Its a great speach and prophesises into the heart of the malaise in society that is gender and sex confusion. Its also something that I have been saying and of course millions as well.
The headline is not what the Pope actually said but a headline spawned by the kneejerk reaction to what he said.

Its a brilliant speach.

Whilst it may upset many who see it as unloving and provocative, one should remember Jesus taught to repent and believe, repent and turn to God.

And the CA Supreme Court will overturn it again, just remember that prop 8 was headed for defeat until the pro prop 8 people used lies to get a win by an extremely thin margin.

You could start with archaeological evidence that King David and King Solomon existed, as well as their kingdom as described in the Bible. From there, you could work your way back to Moses.

Maybe even find evidence of all the firstborn in Egypt dying in one night. That would be a huge jump in mortality.

Finding the Ark of the Covenant might be pretty good evidence.

Of course...this would just be a start.

Or you could do what everyone who has ever gotten the proof has done and simply ask God. I know, novel concept, but it works. That's if you truly want to know. I mean to actually know beyond the academic sense.

I also think it is a great speech since it is already getting even more people to realize that the church is a detriment to society.

There is not any way a human could know other than in an academic sense since what those that purport as their evidence of god can easily be linked to nothing more than neurotransmitter responses.

1) Today it would be illegal animal cruelty.
2) Which isn't relevent today, as i said morality is relative in some but not all cases.
3) The bible contains all kinds of verses about women being sold into marriage for money. Today this would be considered highly immoral and illegal child abuse.
4) agreed. We've evolved in the sense that we can now eat pork and shellfish, as we realized that if you cook them properly they arn't dangerous.

5) Is it? I'd say after the latest round of voting that's not entirely true. Even in a Godless nation like the United States. If memory serves gays are batting 0 having lost 3 of the 3 votes this past November.

We're talking about sodomy here not marriage. The only battle the gays have lost is the convenience battle and the semantics battle.

i made a long post about this on another thread, i'll link it here:

what does the Bible say about saving the rainforest? And recycling? and clean burning hydrocarbons?

I hope it says something; because if it doesn't, then that means the whacko literalists might think that the rain forest doesn't exist on account the Bible mentions nothing about them, or the Amazon river....

Thin margin? 52 to 48% is not "an extremely thin margin". A president would be said to have a mandate with a margin that large.

They may well overturn it but their overturning it isn't a reflection of the will of the people. And Ca wasn't the only state that voted on similar issues. Those aren't going to get overturned.

And what lies did they use? I keep hearing this but have yet to have anyone point anything out for me.

They said that kids will be taught about gay marriage and they also stated that kids were taken to a Lesbian wedding to teach them about gay marriage.
Prop 8 had no language about what a child can or cannot be taught and the kids were taken to the wedding by THEIR PARENTS who came up with the idea, the school did not.
