  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

TE works, because its practitioners do not have to think too much.

When asked about Genesis and/or creation they can answer “it’s not really true”.

When asked about evolution and humans shared origins with other apes they can answer “it’s not really true”.

Liberalism at its best
I think that depends on the kind of belief the particular TE holds to.

I know of one TE (Glen Morton - a geologist who is an ex YEC) who accepts that the Bible is the inerrant and inspired word of God and that both apes and humans shared a common ancestor.

Other TEs I know of, accept the reality of ape/human common ancestry. They reject AV's kind of literalistic interpretation of Genesis, in the same way AV seemingly rejects a literalistic interpretation of other verses of the Bible (and favours modern meteorological theory over Biblical meteorological concepts, for example.).

And while you're at it, why don't you find that verse that "correlates" atheism with satanism.
funny that the only way AV can support such nonsense is by mutilating the bible.
he claims he believe the bible 100%, but yet in order to define his beliefs he has to twist it.
can anyone explain to me why the bible is the one text people feel okay in chopping it into pieces?
i think paul had an ongoing theme in the papers he wrote, you wouldn't know from the way people chop it to bits to make horrible theology from.

So what gives "science" the right to declare that things in the Bible didn't happen the way they did?

No evidence for a global flood? Then keep looking.
No evidence for a Creator? Then keep looking.
No evidence that Jesus rose from the tomb? Then keep looking.

Don't sit in your ivory tower, science, and tell me it didn't happen as documented.

As I have said before, until science can build a machine that can do this:

[bible]2 Kings 6:17[/bible]

--- science can take a hike.

the fact you cannot reconcile the bible with reality is not the fault of science.

Notice three areas in this verse where Satanism and Evolution interface:
It is an offense to Jesus Christ.
It does not appreciate the things of God.
It appreciates the things of men.
And who did Jesus address in this passage?

I submit therefore that Satanism and Atheism/Evolution have three things in common that make them indistinguishable, and the Bible exposes them.
__________________

I have a counter example:
Notice there are three areas where Communism and Christianity interface:
1. Jesus, Stalin and Lenin all had mustaches.
2. All three men were very powerful.
3. All three men died at the height of their power.

I submit therefore that Communism and Christianity have three things in common that make them indistinguishable and I have just exposed them.

Does that sound silly? It is... just as your example is. Satanism and Evolution have NOTHING in common.. how could he possibly claim they are "indistinguishable," or that the bible exposes this?? The Bible doesn't mention evolutiuon at all! This goes to show there is no limit to the twisting you will do to scripture to make it fit with your world view.

The Bible doesn't mention evolutiuon at all!
Let me say this again:

  • Genesis 1 pwns evolution.
  • Genesis 1:1 pwns atheism.
The Bible can pwn things w/o mentioning them by name.

Make that a Wet paper bag, and I will agree with you!

AVET still cannot distinguish between what the Bible says, and what his interpretation of the Bible says.

Uh huh.
Matthew 16:23 said:
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
I might be especially thick today, but I fail to see why "(the things) that be of men" is a referral to evolution or atheism, or what the connection to satanism might be.

Oh, and you still haven't produced that verse about evolution equaling nature worship.

Don't blame it on "being especially thick" --- blame it on being an atheist --- and according to the Bible, you will not understand these things.

And as I have said before, the only thing you guys understand is: GOD DID IT.

Oh, you might be able to fire off all seven dispensations at the drop of a hat - (I have a little mnenomic phrase that helps me remember them in order) - but do you understand it? No.

You might be able to demonstrate how all 39 books of the Old Testament are in mathematical balance - (17 books of history --- 5 books of poetry --- 17 books of prophecy) - but do you understand it? No.

You might be able to rattle off that Gemini is not Castor and Pollux in Hebrew - (King of Kings and Lord of Lords) - but do you understand it? No.

And is it because you're "just being especially thick today"?

No, it's because the Bible says you won't.

No, it's really because your interpretation is totally untenable. Ask your fellow Christians for their interpretation of Matthew 16:32 and try to explain yours. I'm sure the reactions would be enlightening.

AV doesn't like to argue with other christains because when he does, he begins to realize his interpenetration of the bible is fallible, and that not all christains think as he does. So he must ether denounce these other christains or question if his interpretation is wrong.

And AV would consider it blasphemy to question himself.

I see... so the reason we all think your interpretation of scripture makes no sense is because God said it wouldn't make sense to us.... right?.... Why then are you shouting at the rain?
