Heard somewhere that mispronouncing others' names and referring to them by the wrong gender actually constitute a kind of low-level social posturing / mindjobbing tactic to make them feel disregarded and/or diminished but of course without leaving them anything they can point to specifically because if they pointed to those things they would incur the ire of the group for not being patient with human foibles because after all, nobody does such things on PURPOSE ... riiiiiight? *eyeroll*

Word to the not-so-wise ... more people in this big bad world bes onto you than you think. ;)

and that's not the least of it!

Well not everyone looks at profiles, but at least that Icon should give some information so you know wither or not to use Him / Her.

This might help explain a little bit about those who have not heard the word.

It is an excerpt from our WELS Q&A section. If you get a chance, take a look at the whole question.

The only hope we can hold out is the mercy of God and the hope that, although God has limited us to the gospel as a means of working faith in people, he has not limited himself. But he has revealed to us nothing that gives most people adequate comfort in this specific issue. The words of Romans 2:12-16 allow us to acknowledge that God will judge the unevangelized in a way that reflects they never had the revealed Word, but it does not speak of "salvation" for them.

That's a pretty sweeping judgment to make about everyone outside your congregation.

Actually, I didn't say anything about everyone outside my congregation.

Do you always disobey Christ or only when He says not to pass judgments on others and not to bear false witness against them?

You mean like you're doing now?

At any rate, since you don't really want to play fair, I won't bother trying to engage you again. I prefer my theological discussions to be with people who actually are interested in answering questions.

And I prefer mine with people who actually want to listen to the answers.

Yeah, only with you geniuses would answering the same stupid question five times be considered "avoiding" it.
"Stupid"? How telling of you, PJ. But I guess it does get frustrating to have to keep dodging a question and never have any of your dodges work, particularly after all the practice I imagine you've had.

I did not dodge the question. I answered it five times for you.

No, I scribbled it on the wall of the men's room at the local truck stop.

Ahh so much love.

Care to give us the address, you wouldn't be lying about this would you ?

EDIT:
Yes, in this thread.
Nice to see you change your answer, but why the snide remark in the first place ?

You are quick to judge those who ask you the questions.

Thankfully Jesus wasn't so quick to judge. You might do better to pattern your ministry after his rather than whatever it is you use as your basis.

I'm probably one of the more conservative, even fundy Christians on this site. Most of the people responding in this thread have been or will be (at some point in time) on the receiving end of a "sermon" from me that they will not like. You and I probably agree on a lot more theology than you think.

The fact that you are so quick to discern that I am not interested in hearing your answers proves a great deal to me (and probably those reading this thread). There are better ways to bring people to the fold - abject hatred and second-guessing the motives of those asking are not on that list. I will pray that God gives you a better measure of discernment and a way of promoting His good news that does not alienate everyone around you.

Ya know, it's no wonder atheists steer clear of Christians when ya got a PASTOR of all people saying this kind of stuff.

Can't really blame them when that's the case, can I?

Ah well, pastor Jim. I forgive ya anyway.

Ah well, pastor Jim. I forgive ya anyway.

And I would forgive you, but you believe that what you say is just fine when you say it to me.

And I will pray that your husband shows better discernment leading his congregation than he did picking a wife.
THAT is incredibly rude and totally uncalled for. I suggest you apologize right now or you can count on being reported.

And THAT'S a promise.

No problem. Just have her apologize to me and I'll be happy to.

Go ahead and report me. I'm so sick of this place and all of the fake Chrsitians and idiot atheists, that I'm considering leaving, anway.

This place is where sound doctrine goes to die.
