  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know what Criada or intricatic fully mean by either of their statements, I know how I meant it and have scripture to back that up.
I do accept a metaphorical sense of love towards Israel becuz it literally spells it out for us in how Jesus said He felt towards His people - wanting to care for them and protect them, but they essentially refused.

Of course, but how that leads to acceptance of women standing in the stead of God (which Timothy clarifies in qualifying pastors) is what's lost on me. Many will jump up and claim discrimication, which is as ridiculous as being called a racist for not voting for Obama.

But absolutely, scripture is constantly taken out of context, altered, misconstrued, misinterpreted, misunderstood, ignored, twisted, manipulated, rejected and denied every single day by lots of people.

Peter explained
2 Peter 3:16
as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand,
which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

I was expecting rational talk from our friend too.

Thumbs up to Dorothy

Can I just ask that you spell out a reply to clarify your original statement?

Any Christians will admit that all males & females have the same original sin which makes them equally "wicked" -
this is why both male & females accept Christ for atonement & repent of their sin.
I bet this is how Jesus felt when Nicodemus questioned Him. :D

OK... to the point. People are prone to thinking about things in terms of human life and human, worldly concerns. When you say something that isn't meant to be worldly or human, people are going to think that's what you're talking about because it's where their minds naturally rest. God isn't a woman any more than He is a politician. He is what He is, though. :p

So God speaks about Himself in a feminine way. Don't men also sometimes do feminine things? It's not bad unless you assume that implies something about politics and equality that divert attention from who God is and what He is actually saying.

I wasn't suggesting that God is literally female... and evidently Jesus isn't!
But all that is good in humanity, male and female, is a reflection of God's character.... maternal love comes from Him and is an attribute of His, as does paternal love. Both are a partial and very inadequate representation of His love, though.

Paul described himself as a nursing mother

Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. - 1 Thessalonians 2v6-7

Okay, now we're just getting carried away. :D

I like what what he said prior, though... Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ.

I never meant to imply that you did, Criada. Sorry if it seemed that way. I'm making a cake and getting ready for my daughter's birthday, so I might be a bit over-tasked. :D

Your post seemed to be in defense of ordaining women and my point about that was that we've seen how that leads to the acceptance of ordained, practicing and unrepentant homosexuals. 1 Timothy 3 is clear on the qualifications of overseers of the church and before someone claims Paul is sexist, I urge them to remember Phoebe and Priscilla.

Just a little telepathy to elsewhere.
Just ignore.

ya thanks, I was trying to have a nice day here
lol :p:p
I love you both, but this seems very mean. This seems like open, coded gossiping about someone... Why? :(

I think the idea of making God female is dreadful... and no-one here has done that. But to make God conform to *our* idea of gender seems like we're attempting to make Him fit our tiny perspectives. He is our Father; He is not our Mother. But women, too, were created in His image. He's so much bigger than gender. That's all I took from Criada's post.

If that's who I remember, I have several reasons why but I won't go into it here for other reasons - I thought RD was referring to someone being her sock here; otherwise I was clueless why her name was brought up at all & kinda still am, but I'm moving on.

??
I didn't see anything wrong w/ Criada's post then or now & I didn't take it wrongly either - I had a metaphor in mind that I think is very fitting to the comment in how I took it.

It is not. The person I referred to repped me and said hi. So don't worry.

Thank you for explaining... I certainly got the feeling she was being taken to task a little in general, but because I had quoted your post, it looked like I was speaking to you specifically. I wasn't, at all. My bad, am sorry
