  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (8)

Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon games are excellent family type games. And the Wii versions are coming out soon.

Kae

Ah, Animal Crossing. A game that requires daily playing. Ever go away for a week? How am I supposed to pick all those weeds? I could always mess around with the clock on the console, but let's be reasonable here. ^_^

The cockels of me heart were warmed this week. I was attending a pastor's conference and we had two former ELCA pastors who are participating in the LCMS colloquy program in attendance with us. One is to be installed as an assistant pastor in a PA congregation in November and the other could possibly be my replacement at my old church in PA. Praise the Lord!

Time traveling only brings more weeds. LOL

I only have AC for the DS right now. I'm trying to find someone who has the same thing to come and visit my town and buy something from Nook's place so I can get Nookington's. I'm close to getting my golden net and golden fishing rod, I have my golden shovel and slingshot and I've had a perfect town for 6 days running so far (haven't checked in today so I may have a 7 day streak) so I can get my golden watering can.

Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon FTW!! LOL :D

To Lambie.....don't worry about closing my avitar thread...no biggie. :) I wanted folks to know I wasn't ticked at ya.....but who could get ticked at Lambie anyway.

Where's the "whew" smiley?

Thank you! I just don't want to have anybody get into trouble when I can divert it!

And, I do understand your complaint here on a "Christian" board.

It's probably for the best..knowing some people they could've reported the thread, and then it would've put TCL Staff between a rock and a hard place..especially for certain folks who like to claim bias..

And I couldn't agree more as far as the Christianity side goes. Far too often we find ourselves in a predicament where we rule for the sake of fairness that we often have to let Christian morales fall to the wayside..'tis the consequence of having such diversities.

I would love to Play Ratchet on the Wii. But video game companies are very posessive of their characters. You'll never see any Mario game on the PS3 or XBox.

True, but then again, Nintendo is guilty of copyright infringement when it comes to Mario and Luigi. They are both the legal property of Atari and its parent company. Hence, Nintendo could be in a lot of hot water if Atari's parent company decided to get hostile (which it may given the release of the Atari Flashback console).

Hmm. Seems that Mario (originally called "Jumpman") was created by Nintendo for their arcade game, Donkey Kong, in 1981. Nintendo licensed DK to Coleco who then developed games for different consoles, including the Atari 2600. (Atari had approached Nintendo for licensing rights but lost out to Coleco) Coleco bundled the game with their "ColecoVision" in July of '82. Six months later, Coleco developed the Atari and Intellivision versions and sales soared into the millions.

There have been clones of the game (Monkey Kong, Crazy Kong, King Kong and Congo Bongo. [Sega fans may remember that one.]) but Nintendo is not the one doing the *ahem* cloning.

(no, I'm not really that smart about these things. I googled it and a wiki magically appeared. See? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donkey_Kong_(video_game) )

I drive every weekend up to Ames, IA (not the next three weekends though), so straight shot on I-35 from KC.

I head out west on I-70 tomorrow, then meander up to Billings, MT.

Ah darn. I am waaay up north, near the Minnesota border.

The "Mario Brothers" cartridge I have for the Coleco says 1980 copyright Atari. Such being the case, I wouldn't trust the accuracy of wikipedia. I find that too often people substitute opinions for facts. Especially when it comes to the articles regarding video game consoles.

"Mario" was created by Nintendo in 1980. The games were ported for other game systems, thus their appearence in other systems, but it is a Nintendo creation.

Alright, you need to buy another DS with AC and buy something from yourself. LOL Oh and you need to get out of the house Queen Midas. hehehehe Time travelling does work if you go back to a day after you last played. LOL But I'd do time travelling all the time to see the different seasons and holiday festivities. I'd also teach some of the characters to say "bad" words. LOL Take that "Rated E for Everyone." MWUAHAHAHAHA!

*snort* I've been trying to get Mike to get his own DS. He wants to play the new Civilization for DS (he MIGHT get it for Christmas...)

You're goofy! *G* My animals all talk in LOLcats right now. *G* I'm enjoying seeing the seasons change in game. Right now, the leaves are starting to turn.

I think that I started getting a perfect town last week when the power was out and I'd done everything I could in the house that didn't take electric and only had dishes and laundry to do. I think I played about 20 hours worth of AC...my eyes hurt! *G*

Okay, here's another history to check out.

http://www.randomhistory.com/1-50/007game.html

ETA: From what I'm reading, "Licensed by Atari" means that Atari has licensed that particular game for the Atari/Coleco but NOT that they own the characters. Coleco won the licensing for game cartridges, Atari won it for the floppy disk rights.

I went to an auction at my parents church (Lutheran) last spring to raise money for the Lutheran school they have going. I started bidding on the Xbox 360, I stopped bidding on it at $300, I ended up with it at $350 and I didn't even bid on it anymore after my $300 bid. Don't know how that happened. I wasn't going to argue with the auctioneer, the money was going to a good cause anyway

How's your touchscreen holding up? Having owned numerous PDA's I've always found that taking a hard plastic stylus to a touch sensitive screen is never a good idea.

You can pick up a new XBox 360 for $199 now. Even less if you buy pre-owned.
