  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If there was a general election tommorrow how would you vote?

The irony of this is is that Brown (and Blair) are two of the most devoutly religious men in British politics at the moment.
Excuse an American for butting in, but how can a devout Christian support the legality of killing children in their mothers' wombs?

Dunno. How can a supposed "Christian" support the illegal invasion of Iraq, the deaths of thousands of men, women and children in a far away country that just happens to have lots of oil in it, as well as American and British soldiers who are being used up and thrown away for the profits of American corporations?

There's a few logs in your own eye to be going on with. Get to it.

If there were an election tomorrow my vote would go to to the Lib-Dems. When Labour came to power in '97, I was one of those who voted for Blair, I had been Labour man all my life and was over the moon when there came the change we all waited for (Incidently I celebrated my 40th birthday that day, I thought it was the perfect present!?). Everything went well for a short time, then down hill from there. We've been involved in a war that was not fully backed by the country, the economy is in decline not to mentrion health, education and crime especially violent is on the increase. I thought that there would be a change when Brown replaced Blair, under the impression that we would have a return of the old policy of people first. I was wrong, it's old Labour - wreck the economy first and not listen to the people. Finally what happened to the referendum over Europe?

Same reasons they do in the states, trying to stop it would be doomed to failure. Too many people both nationally and in government support the right to abortion and trying to change that law would be a waste of time and legislation.

Mmm, just listened to Nick Clegg's and I must say I'm rather impressed. One big disappointment is that he is ruling nuclear energy out. Might keep an eye on the libs, said a lot of things I liked.

Here's a transcript of the speech
