How do we know that God discerns the difference between the Intoxication of the effects of alcohol from the effects of Marijuana use? The bible never says that he discerns the difference, it never mentions Marijuana period. We can not just guess what things are sins or are not sins, we need biblical evidence.
Well that's easy, He knows the heart and motive of ALL our actions and that is what Christians are judged on at the final judgment.

Of course God can discern if we're taking medicine for legitimate purposes or trying to get high & get drunk??
Even courts of law seek to find out motive - if something was an accident or premeditated. Intent is everything.

You know before ether came along, people used to drink whiskey & get stone drunk before medical procedures to dull the pain. Do you don't think God doesn't know the difference?
I think He does :)

The point here is what the Bible teaches on drugs.

Do a study on Pharmakia & read up on being "sober minded".
God teaches the principle of "taking every thought captive" - this is impossible on dope or alcohol intoxication.

2 Cor. 10
4for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh,
but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God,
and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

We're to guard our minds at all times.

Also, smoking isn't healthy either. It's not even good for your body to drink alot of alcohol or smoke dope (or take any drugs for that matter - even prescription drugs have horrible side effects and harm your liver).
It cannot even be good for us physically.

Here's another interesting page on spiritual warfare regarding
how demons operate over people thru vices and sin to gain strongholds (how we open doors to let them gain entry to us):

http://www.masterbuilder.org/tracts/spirwar01.htm
(go down to "how demons operate").

Drug abuse is another prime way to invite demonic activity into your life. Drugs were originally used, not simply to cure sickness, but to open one's mind and body up to the spirit world.
The ancient Greeks used the same word, pharmakeia, to describe both drugs and witchcraft. They discovered, as many modern drug-users have, that they are a kind of door into the spirit world.
They relax your conscious mind, leave it open to suggestions, and even produce visions of spirit creatures (sometimes called hallucinations).

Drugs helped hypnosis, as well as seances, and meditations. Drugs were not allowed in the worship of the true god. They were considered one with idolatry and rebellion.
Millions of Americans, young and old, have invited demons into their lives with drugs, both the over and under-the-counter varieties.

I was just using the provided literature. No biblical reference on my part.

What's lost on the pot promoters is that any mind altering drug has detrimental effects on youth and teenagers.

Smoke all the weed you want in your house...knock your socks off, I could care less what you do in your house.

However, please realize that getting stoned is not conducive to teenagers succeeding in school.

Stoners in high school do not amount to much and if anyone claims that they were stoners in highschool, college and are still stoners while holding a highly skilled job...I will:

A) Believe that you haven't a clue that a stoner smokes dope daily.

B) Simply not believe you, as I am exposed to many teenagers who smoke weed daily, they are literally smoking their life away...everyone can see it, except them.

If you want to smoke weed occasionally / recreationally that's one thing....but to pass off daily smoking as harmless, is an absolute delusion.

I care if people smoke pot in their homes or wherever...I care a whole big bunch regarding those contributing to the violence and crime associated with drugs....all drugs from pot to heroine and even legal pharmaceuticals sold illegally.

It may seem all harmless to buy a bag of dope from your "friend" but stop and think for a moment the web of crime and violence attached to that bag of dope...to street gangs, organized crime and drug cartels...

If people who do drugs don't care about themselves...or their families and friends who love them...perhaps if they could see the blood on their dope...and not only the blood of criminals and those who have OD'd on drugs...but the blood of innocent bystanders and the DEA agents & local law enforcement who have lost their lives in the war against drugs...they might have a different perspective.

I couldn't agree more...particularly what you've noted in purple font...

There is nothing wrong with prescriptin drugs. Some of us take them to lower blood pressure.

As do I...however...what would be more preferable and beneficial...would be for me to maintain a healthier diet with exercise...which is my personal goal so I don't need an Rx to manage my BP.

Unfortunately...and I consider this is what Nadiine was referring to...there are those who may abuse pharmaceuticals as an easy "fix" than apply a heathier alternatives.

I used to work in the medical field...you would be amazed at how many people take meds for hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity and in some cases...diabetes and such when a healthier lifestyle could have prevented these maladies in the first place...however...poppin' a pill is a whole lot easier than proper diet and moderate exercise. Let's not even get into to all the kids on meds for ADHD that some proper disciplin, diet and exercise would cure.

There is also those who abuse Rx meds. Who become addicted to pain meds, anti-anxiety or anti-depression meds...sleep aids when simply altering their lifestyles a bit...or better yet... giving their disorders up to God to heal them.

There are a good many people who believe they haven't gotten their monies worth if they leave a doc's office w/o an Rx. And a whole lotta docs out there handing out scripts left and right w/o dealing with the unhealthy lifestyles that are the root issue of so many illnesses...

It's a shame really...however...not for the pharmaceutical companies.

I think people know how much there is, they aren't discerning in WHAT the evil actually is.

God help us.

So true. Its sad really how many think that God made some of the evil things...some of them are even Christians.

There has been evil in the world since the time of "cain", the first murderer.

Weed doesn't necessarily make someone do evil though it does put someone in a state of unreality.

http://users.aristotle.net/~bhuie/lazarus.htm

John 8:44 "Ye out of a father the Devil are, and the desires of the father of ye, ye are willing to be doing".

Matthew 21:43 Therefore I am saying to ye, that shall be being taken-away from Ye the Kingdom of the God, and it shall be being given to a Nation doing the fruits of it.

Reve 12:8 and not He is strong, neither Place found of Them still in the Heaven.

No - i meant that the person who said 'god put it there' - - - he didnt. He didnt create drugs. Evil did.

Not necessarily, the Sonoran Desert Toad produces Bufotenine as as defense mechanism against predators.

This chemical, is actually an illegal drug in the United States. Bufotenine is a psychoactive drug with effects by users that are very much the same as those who use the chemical LSD.

This naturally occurring chemical within the toad gets people high. This naturally occurring chemical was created by God for an intended purpose. If a person has this species of toad, they have immediate and easy access to a psychoactive drug.

Man takes that chemical and uses it to get high.

God created the chemical, man abuses the chemical.

So, God has created some drugs and drugs are not evil until they are either abused or used in a manner in which they were not intended.

Your kidding right?

So your an evolutionist...the marijuana plant came into existence via evolution and not from a creator?

That I can understand, you believe in evolution...that's fine.

If I told you that marijuana, in some cases, is the only drug that will relieve symptoms of severe nausea in people with HIV or cancer patients going through Chemotherapy.

What if I were to tell you that this drug is so effective for that very purpose, that the medical community in Canada allows for the legal possession of medicinal marijuana, prescribed by a physician and provides licenses for people to grow their own medicinal marijuana in their homes.

Would you still consider a drug that relieves symptoms of nausea in cancer patients....evil?

God created marijuana containing THC. THC gets people high. God created marijuana, God created THC, marijuana and THC are not evil. Using marijuana recreationally to get high, although I think is stupid, ( I don't think it is evil, not in the least) but using marijuana and specifically the THC to treat cancer patients....is not evil.

Does this shed a light on your black and white view of the issue....or do you still believe that any use of marijuana is EVIL.
I think your view point may be influenced by America's very black and white, just say 'No' to drugs, build more jails, hire more cops, bust more dealers, bust more street level users, approach to the problem of drugs.

Where does it say in the bible that smoking weed is a good idea according to God or to Jesus? Tell me that and then i will continue this discussion with you. :)

Most issues of sin are black and white actually - it's man that likes to use the shades of gray (usually in justification), but that's another thread.

The bible is clear on recreational drug use as sin and it's directly linked with the occult biblically. We're also told to keep soberminded and not intoxicated.
It is sin biblically, but people will find shades of gray for this if their heart is set on it.

So you would rather HIV patients suffer instead of using medical marijuanna legally to help thier symptons?

How did God not create Weed? Who did? Evil? Who is that, Satan? Satan did not help God create the Earth or the animals or the plants, God created all of it. He created Satan too.
