I just came across a great e-sword module

Maybe this is old news to the rest of you but I just discovered an e-sword Bible that combines the LXX with strongs (that actually works keyed to Greek) and a WH Greek NT text, with strongs and grammar notes, all in one Bible.

Note: You need the most recent version of E-Sword for the Greek LXX Strong's notes to work. Thanks to NorrinRadd for this information (see below).

it doesn't work correctly, it displays the tags but they are keyed all wrong....

e.g. if i display Gen. 1.1, it displays the word for god, theos, it displays at the side G2316, however, if you hover your mouse over it or click the number, it displays, H2316, which instead of meaning God, means an Ishmaelite.

The idea though is great....

I will still use it though, as it is very useful in that the strongs words (even if to the wrong language) makes it easy to see which greek word corresponds to the hebrew... very useful for me.

That is odd...I am not getting that at all. Mine correctly displays the Greek info when hovering or in the dictionary when you click. I had a different resource previously that did what you are speaking of.

It also works keying to Thayers Any of the dictionaries set up to use Strong's numbers should work.

As to that, to be honest I am not sure ....I don't see the variants anywhere in my installation. Very odd. Would be handy if it did. Especially if I could stick it on the PPC version!

I am still waiting for a Palm version of Bibleworks. The bible program I have now for my Treo has the USB text the Robersons-Peirpoint text and my USB text has parsing information. I am trying to get a Louw-Nida and LSJ lexicons for it but have not been succesful in that endevor. I was hoping to be able to convert my existing electronic version of those into a usable one, but my skills in making Palm programs is nil. I may end up having to buy them again this time for Palm OS.

But I do love my Palmbible. It is very convient and has all my favorite bible versions including some other works like the Ante-Nicene Fathers and Josephus. Oh, well, as time goes by more and more become availble for handheld devices.

Is your version of e-Sword current? A few months ago, Rick changed the coding so that it now handles Strong's numbers differently. He did it precisely because of the problem you are noting, viz. that Greek versions of the OT didn't work properly.

I bought the UBS text and the extra matching volume, Textual Commentary on the New Testament for looking at variants. I hear the NA text lists a few more minor variants.

Great to hear. That was always inconvenient before though there was a previous workaround with a separate Greek LXX dictionary.
