  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?

Probably. Only because I knew it would bring conflict into her life. Unless she was Hindu too, I guess. I'm not a huge fan of interfaith marriages, although I am a product of one.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
No.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?

No

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?

No

5) Did their parents?

No for one couple, I don't know for the other side of the family.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?

No, only for their parents ^_^

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?

No.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)

No.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
No

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?

No.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?

Yes.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?

In theory.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?

No, because we either take from individual cups or by intinction--we have never drunk directly from a communal cup in the churches we have gone to.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?

No.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?

Yes

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?

I am not sure.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?

Inasmuch as it would influence his decision-making, yes.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?

I don't know. I mean, I have never marched in a parade and wasn't thinking of starting.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
Yes

I'll answer these as if I were still a Christian.

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?
I don't know enough about the hindu faith to say. I'd be concerned about how women are treated and would want to research it. Given that while I was a Christian I was universalist, I don't think I could logically advise against it.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
No.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
A little squeamish, but not offended.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?
No.

5) Did their parents?
Don't know. Don't think so.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
Not intrinsically. Anything (pop, urban/hip-hop, country, folk, CCM, tv, movies) that emphasizes bad attitudes 100% of time is bad for anyone that saturates themselves in it -- teenager or not.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
No.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
No.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
No.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
It would depend on whether I felt that I'd been deceived somehow. Or, if the pastor had been preaching anti-gay sermons (not that I would stay in the church under those circumstances) then I'd have a problem with the hypocrisy. IOW, if I'd been in Haggard's church, I'd leave. If I were in an episcopal church, probably not.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
Yes.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
No. We have individual cups (and have had in any congregation that I've been in).

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
N/A.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
No.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Yes.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
No.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
No. In the USA, I feel like attempt to muddle the issue dirties both religion and the politicians.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
No. 1) I feel all parades are exercises in tedium, and 2) I confess I have somewhat of a stereotype about gay-pride parades. If I thought a point needed to be made in very particular circumstances and that I could make it by marching, I probably could do it. I can't imagine the set of circumstances that bring me to that point.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
Yes.

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?

No, not based on that, but instead because I'd want to at least meet him before the wedding.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
No

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
No, absolutely not.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?
No, except for the time leading up to their divorce.

5) Did their parents?
No.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
What, I can't hear you.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
No, Harry Potter is fantasy not reality. If a persons faith is so weak that a book based in fantasy can cause them to abandon that faith then they had no real faith to begin with.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
I can think of many books that I have no interest in ever reading, but no book no matter how repelant should ever be outright banned. Restrictions on some books based upon age are just common sense though.

The meaning of life is 42.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
No.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
No, that would more likely get me to go to church more often.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
Of course I would sit in the same pew as them.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
Nope, my church doesn't use a communal cup for communion. It uses little individual plastic cups.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
See answer #13.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
Really depends on the child. My half sister had no problem with watching TV unsupervised, the only problem that ever came up was when I was baby sitting and I made her change the channel because what she was watching was way to annoying. Other, maybe even most, should absolutely be supervised. It's just that in my family we have never had a problem with the kids watching inapropriate things.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Yes, keeping kids in the dark will only cause trouble.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
No. (See recent events)

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
Probably not, since so far as I know there has yet to be a non-Christian running for president.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
No, but only because I have anxiety problems and avoid large crowds like the plague. Other than that I would have no problem.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
It wouldn't be freedom of speech if it didn't cover such things.

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?
Hey, my sister is married to a man in prison, who had been escaped when she first met him. Anything is an improvement on that.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
Yes, it would be an automatic thought because I'm programmed to think it. But I would remind myself within a second that she's no less holy than I am. I'm saved because I'm washed in the Blood, not because my hair reaches all the way to my butt.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
I'm used to it. My brother is gay.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?
My mother and step-father sleep in separate beds, in different rooms, on different floors. She slept with her previous husbands, though, plus the men she lived with between husbands.

5) Did their parents?
Yep. Don't know how they ended up having six (mother's parents) and seven (father's parents) kids together.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
Oh, boy, I just discussed this on another Christian site. I don't condemn heavy metal just for being heavy metal. If I don't approve of a song, it's the lyrics, not the sound. Heavy metal is not my preference, but that's only personal taste.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
Yes, but so do a lot of other things. Children can be taught the difference between fantasy and reality. Watch/read with them, and discuss it. It's called parenting.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
Every library, no. Private libraries can ban all they want to, but I don't think a public library should. We rate movies, why not rate books, then people have an idea what they're getting into.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
When it's a matter of convenience, yes. When it is a medical necessity, I think it should be allowed. But--then treat women who have unwanted pregnancies with compassion. Help her get what she needs, and help her place the baby where it would best be placed, according to the individual situation.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
I've had a gay pastor before. That wasn't why I left the church.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
Willingly!

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
No, actually, it's never crossed my mind.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
Not an issue. I've never been to a service where they all drank from the same cup. It was always individual cups.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
NO! (I'm defining "young children" as not in school yet. After that, supervision is based on age, maturity level, responsibility shown, child's sensitivities, etc. Again, parenting. ;) )

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Somebody's got to. Ideally it should be the parents, but if there are parents not doing it, then the information should come from somewhere. I do feel classes should emphasize responsibility. Sex is for adults, and if a kid isn't going to be mature and responsible about it, he/she is too young to have it.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
I hate the whole idea of war. Whatever country I side with would depend on what the war is about. Put it on a smaller scale--if two individuals are having a disagreement, what matters is who is correct, not who worships where.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
Not the name of it, but the spirit in which it is practiced.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
Done it. And I'm straight.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
As long as it's not hateful, but then Christian speech shouldn't be hateful either.

So which does this make me? A Liberal, a Fundy, or a Liberal Fundy?

Ooh, fun!

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?
I don't know a lot about Hinduism, so I would first study up and see how women would be treated in his tradition. If I thought the religious beliefs would lead her to be mistreated, I would advise against it. If not, I'd congratulate them and wish them well.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
No. I like short hair anyway.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
Sad to say, sometimes I still do a double-take. But that's my problem, not the couple's, and I try to overcome that feeling.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?
No.

5) Did their parents?
Yes. I'm not sure why my father's parents did, but my mother's parents did because my grandfather buzzed like a chainsaw when he snored.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
Only if it's too loud.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
No, unless imagination counts as an unchristian belief.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
I originally said no, but upon further reflection, maybe there are. I think a howto book like The Anarchist Cookbook is potentially too dangerous to be easily available. And I would not like nonfiction books promoting pedophilia, for example, in the library. It's a tricky subject.

Also, are we talking about city/county public libraries? University libraries? Some things appropriate for the latter may not be appropriate for the former.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
No.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
No.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
Yes.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
Occasionally. Most of the churches I've attended tend to use grape juice instead of wine (which at least has some sterilizing properties due to the alcohol content), so maybe I should suggest we switch to wine. Some "two-buck chuck" red should be economical.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
No, because when I have attended a church with a common communion cup, I've been in good health. (Is there a correlation?) I've never thought about it before, but skipping the cup might be a good idea.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
This is all hypothetical, since I don't have kids. (Maybe someday.) It seems impractical to constantly monitor kids, but a good idea to check in from time to time and talk with them about what they are watching/listening to/reading/etc.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Yes -- I've known too many people of high school and college age whose only knowledge of pregnancy, STDs, and birth control comes from urban legend. They're going to learn something about it regardless, so we might as well teach them the facts.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
No.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
No.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
Yes.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
Yes, especially because the line between "Christian" and "unchristian beliefs" is very vague, and differentiation between them is frequently in the eye of the beholder.

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?
Dunno. I'd have to learn more about it first. If I thought it was dangerous to be around like that, then I'd make sure she knew about it.. and hopefully talked to him about it. If time was too short, I'd just ask if they'd talked in depth about beliefs and leave it to her judgment.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
Nope.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
No... but I am offended by people doing stuff with the intention of being seen, with being seen doing it being one of the goals.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?

No.

5) Did their parents?
Eventually. Dad's maybe the whole time but I don't know for sure. Mom's, not until they had room, at least.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?

Not as such.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
I haven't read them, but as far as I understand, they rather promote Christian ideals. Magic stuff doesn't bother me any; it's fictional used as a background to the story.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
Probably not. I mean, I'm against censorship, so that'd be a no all the way.. but I'm stuck earlier in the question and I don't know that I could manage to name 3 books I consider bad. Ooo.. I got an idea. Books by L. Ron Hubbard, maybe. It's not that I mind libraries having them... it's that I mind libraries effective supporting Scientology by buying them. So maybe those, but not from every library.. Good to have a few of anything around for posterities sake, I guess.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?

No.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
No, I don't think so. If I did leave, it wouldn't be for that.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
Maybe. I wouldn't make an effort not to but I wouldn't go seeking them out, either, not unless we were friends.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
When I drank from a communal cup (once, maybe twice), yes, I did. (I also happened to be about 14.) I don't know I'd drink from a common cup again, at least not with many people of unknown health. I've got a somewhat compromised immune system.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
I haven't, but I think I would if it had come up.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
No. If nothing else, I wouldn't want them watching things that would give them nightmares.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Absolutely. And more about sex and anatomy. Or at least anatomy.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
Not really.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?

Not exactly. I wouldn't consider religion an important factor, but I would consider beliefs and whether those would affect performance in office.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?

Probably not. Not much for me marching nowadays.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
Yes.

No

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
No but I will admit I find it a little strange... I'm just not used to seeing it.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?
no

5) Did their parents?
No

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
It depends on the music, some heavy metal is horribly mysoginistic and I don't think that's a good thing for impressionable teens to listen too.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
No, the contrary in fact.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
Apart from the Left Behind series which I believe should be collected together, packed into a rocket and sent on a one way trip to the sun, no.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
No

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
No

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?

It depends what they're watching.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Yes

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
No, the reason for the war would be the reason I decide which country to side with if any.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
(Or Prime Minister in my case). It would depend, I wouldn't vote for an extremist of any religion but if a non-extremist Christian was the leader of a political party I would be more kindly disposed to them then if they were a different faith or none at all.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
Yes I probably would.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
I think that the owners of internet forums have the right to set their own rules ;)

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion? Nope. I'd be curious about her position in the culture, though.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman? There's a biblical stance on women with short hair?

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing? Doesn't even turn my head.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds? No.

5) Did their parents? No.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers? Depends on how loud they listen to it.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs? No.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine) No.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again? Sure, and so should alcohol. Prohibition worked so well last time. Who doesn't like bootlegging and organized crime?

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them? Uh, yeah.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is? Every time I'm at church.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold? I never partook in the wine because of my aversion to communal germ farms. Wafer only (when I did that sorta thing).

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised? Not really, nor should they be allowed to prowl the 'net unsupervised, or do much of anything unsupervised.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control? God yes!

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with? Depends on the ideology of both countries. Probably.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor? Yes, actually.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade? Only as a favor to a friend. I don't really like parades.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs? Absolutely

What the heck.

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?

No. My sister is a grownup and that's how I treat her.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?

Nope.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?

Not offended, just ew! Same applies to member's of the same sex. I'll change the channel if it's 2 guys making out a la 6 Feet Under, or a guy and a girl a la Sex in the City.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?

Yes. Dad has the loudest snore you've ever heard.

5) Did their parents?

No

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?

No.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?

Dunno. It's fantasy, I don't think it has anything to say about Christianity one way or another.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)

Nope

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?

Yes, except in exceptional circumstances.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?

No

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?

Sure

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?

Yes

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?

I don't drink from it.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?

They're usually only interested in cartoons in my experience, so why not?

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?

Yes.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?

No

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?

No

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?

No

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?

Why not?

So, am I a fundie? :)

i think the name of this quiz is silly. really silly. unfortunate, even. but whatever :)

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?
I would discuss it with her and, because of the nature of my family unit, I would hope she'd bring him around and let us get to know him. what's most important to me is mutual love, respect, care, and encouragement... Since I'm involved with an agnostic, I can't speak to her about marrying only Christians ;)

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
I can't recall ever thinking this.

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
No, but I used to feel a kneejerk discomfort.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?
No.

5) Did their parents?
My mother's did.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
Not if it's at healthy decibels.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
It does not promote beliefs of any sort, as far as I can read.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
No, but I would be uncomfortable with books about bomb making and how-tos on murder or evil acts being published at all.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
I'm not sure how this issue would best be served.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
No.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
I'd sit anywhere with them.

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
Yes.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
Most churches I belonged to had individual plastic cups.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
Well, they do. I suppose it'd be good to know what they're watching and make it difficult for them to just wander around the channels if they're really young.

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
Yes.

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
No, I care more about injustice than labels.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
No, though it might influence me unconsciously.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
I don't feel strongly about the cause, and I don't march for any others, so no. It might make me look really tolerant or open-minded, but that'd just be for appearances, which isn't a good enough reason to do so.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
Yes.

-Quick note from the the OP-

A few folks have asked if their answers made them fundy or not.

I have no idea.

I just put a few questions together, some of which seem to draw different positions from different camps.

This quiz is not scientific, and it won't be graded.

I just find it interesting to ask a bunch of questions and read the responses.

And, most of all, I hope that you folks enjoy taking my little quizzes!

Ah sheesh. I was hoping I could change my user title to 'fundified!'. ^_^

1) If your sister was about to marry a Hindu priest whom you never met, would you advise her against getting married based in his religion?
Assuming she is a Christian, yes.

2) If you saw a lady with very short hair, would you think about the biblical stance on short hair for woman?
What biblical stance would that be? Sounds like a trick question to me! ^_^

3) Are you offended by the sight of two members of the same sex kissing?
I'm not sure "offended" is the most accurate word. I don't enjoy seeing it, no. That's my honest answer.

4) Did your parents sleep in separate beds?

Nope.

5) Did their parents?
No idea.

6) Is heavy metal music bad for teenagers?
Depends on the lyrics.

7) Does Harry Potter promote unchristian beliefs?
Short answer: yes. I don't like how they desensitize and even glorify the idea of witchcraft as if that could ever be a positive thing. I know it's all fantasy, but I still don't care for the message. If I had kids, I wouldn't want them reading that. I realize that they're well-written and entertaining. That's just not enough for them to be OK to me.

8) Can you name 3 books that should be banned from every library? (yes or no is fine)
There are lots of books I would never recommend, but banning books is a slippery slope, and not one I care for personally. Once you go down that path, the next thing you know, the Bible is banned. No thanks.

10) Should abortion be made illegal again?
Yep. And other options need to be made more readily available so that both mother and child don't slip through the cracks.

11) Would you leave a congregation if the pastor publicly announced they were gay?
Not if the elders handled the situation in a way that is biblical/honouring to God (which, yes, would include the gay pastor stepping down from the ministry). If he announced it and continued on as the pastor, no I would not stay in that church.

12) If your congregation had known gay members, would you sit in the same pew with them?
Of course. Why on earth not? (Edit: wait... I thought of a reason not to... If they're sitting in the front row. I don't like sitting in the front row...)

13) Have you ever wondered about how sanitary the communion cup is?
We have those little individual mini glasses, so I've never had to worry about it.

14) Have you ever skipped drinking from the communion cup because you had a cold?
See Q 13.

15) Should young children be allowed to watch television unsupervised?
Nope. I don't think they should be watching TV in the first place, but then I'm not a parent, so I can preach about that all I want! ^_^

16) Do you thinks high schools should teach about birth control?
I believe it's the parents' responsibility to do so first and foremost. School is for academic education. Life lessons should be done primarily at home. Who is raising the kids - teachers or parents??

17) If a predominantly Christian country went to war against a predominantly nonchristian country, would religion play a part in helping you decide which country you sided with?
Ah, another trick question! LOL. There has never been a predominantly Christian country in the entire history of the world. Yes, some are established on Christian ideals, and some have leadership that claim to be Christian. But the majority has never actually been Christian, nor will it be in this life.

18) When voting for the president, would you consider the religion of the candidate as an important factor?
Yes, but taking a politician's word for it is never a good idea. Actions speak louder than words.

19) Regardless of your own sexuality, would you march in a gay-pride parade?
Nope.

20) Do you think that freedom of speech should cover the promotion on unchristian beliefs?
In a general sense, yes. When you get into the specifics, that gets a lot more complicated. Like, as mentioned earlier in this thread, online forums. If they are privately owned, they have a right to limit what is said in them. In a church, pastors should not be required to just allow anyone stand up and preach whatever agenda/gospel, etc. they want in the name of free speech. But in a general public sense, yes I agree there should not be censorship.
