  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good morning to those who get ready for Stanley cup finals, to those who rejoice the weird folks are still there, to those who are back in booze talking, to those who like outrageous false mayonnaise*, to those who have a CS lewis fast reading daughter and those who find pious reading more worthy, to tough cookies of many hair colors and types, and to other friends.

*You’ll have to explain me how you can call mayonnaise something that has no egg yolk in it

Good morning to you too, Emmanuel. :p I figure that anything that's white, gooey, tangy, and tastes good on a sammich is close enough to be called mayonnaise. But for your sake, I can call it faux-mayonnaise. ;)

*waves to everyone*

Just watched Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium with my family. I saw it with Troy's family at western easter (I think?) on the big screen, but it was fun to watch it again with my parents. They liked it too. Fun movie, just good, sweet, clean fun.

No, but what should one expect to find in true/serious Mayonnaise :preach:?

-Egg yolk
-Dijon Mustard
-Sunflower or olive oil
-Salt/pepper

No omission nor addition will be tolerated, except parsley or tarragon in particular cases. And I don't want to hear about those anglo-saxons who add lemon juice or omit egg yolk or mustard.

Mmm, tarragon! Btw, garlic is a tolerable addition... otherwise we have no aioli. ;) Second, French style mayo is nothing close to what they call mayo over here... it's so much better. Hubs hates mayo (well, what he thought it was), but when I made mayo the from scratch way he really likes it.

That does sound better. I have sometimes mixed mayo and mustard together not realizing that I was completing the recipe.

I agree. I have to make my own sometime soon.

Awesome!

Our soil is very poor, plus it's very dry, hot, and windy, so I gave up on vegetable gardening when we moved here. But then I heard about Square Foot Gardening, (this sounds like a commercial) and put in a little 4ft x 4ft garden in a couple of weeks ago. I planted tomatoes, jalopeno's, eggplant, green peppers, mint, okra and chives. They are growing pretty well, but have some yellowing in the leaves though.

Put coffee grounds arround the base of your tomato plants. The coffee grounds have nitrogen in them, and that is plant food. It will make your tomato plants grow like mad. I did it last year and my tomato plants were enormous and gave me tomatos until mid october.

I was in a bunch of breweries the time we visited Munich, but I can no longer remember which ones.

You would probably remember Andechs if you had been there :). It's where the Muencheners traditionally go on Easter or so I'm told. OK, next time that you're there & got a day to kill => hop on S-bahn line 5 westwards from Marienplatz or other central bahnhoff => get off at last stop (Herrsching), from there an hour's very pleasant walk in bavarian countryside => you reach Andechs village which is beautiful & you get to visit the kloster with its brewery & sample the monk's beer. These guys know what they are doing :yum:.

It's all fresh in my mind because it's only 10 days ago that I visited a friend in Muenchen :).

*wonders if he should consider working for lonely planet

You were poking fun at me about talking about true heavy metal and yet here you are talking about true mayonnaise? :p:D:clap:
