CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's with everyone getting engaged all the sudden? Congratulations to Emmanuel too!Bonjour my friend, and to your new lucky lady too.
At least Billy Joel and Pink Floyd stayed the same while I was clearing my head. Not that it's clear yet.
But my nest will begin to clear soon. Two more of our boys are graduating from high school this year, that makes three. One is moving into a college dorm, one will commute with his dad, who works nearby to his college of choice, and the one who graduated last year will continue for one more year at our community college before he flies off.
So next year I'll only have three to homeschool.

As for pens, I like to make pens on my lathe, but am sidelined from that for a few months while my hands heal from carpal tunnel surgery.

You can't spell or pronounce me
I lived in the UK for a few years... some of them where in Cambridge, which is close to Essex. Late 2003 to late 2006. I wasn't going to Essex very frequently but I visited perhaps 4-5 times. Also, Fr M was coming and staying in Cambridge occationally, because he was preparing a thesis for some higher degree (in Theology I think). So we've talked a few times. He was (is?) also the one answering the monastery phone whenever people called for prayer requests, so we got to talk on such an occation too. His greek is amazingly perfect. Hardly any foreign accent at all.
Incidentally (that's for Emmanuel) it was during that time in Cam that I put up that Dmitri from St Serge. You said your Dmitri from St Serge is now in Cam, so it *might* be the same person
.

Choirfiend - late, but CONGRATULATIONS
I have very very mostly finished an absolutely gorgeous (if I may say so myself) apron. Kind of like a jumper that ties in back It's got a very full skirt, to fit over my abnormally (for fashion tastes) full skirts. Very light creamy brown, with a tiny white flower design, and pockets. Fun!
Bias binding, on the other hand, is not fun. This has a lot of it. I think I'm about 2/3 done with it... All the major seams are done though.
Relationship stuff (for me) is bittersweet. God is good, it's just hard.

He used to be passionate about the Pirates and the Steelers, still is about the Steelers, but he "got turned off to all baseball during the strike and I never got into hockey because it seems like they don't play seriously until the playoffs." (he usually gets every other Friday off so I asked him). Actually he has been following it more than I realized, he just told me our Stars got eliminated in the playoffs and knew the Penguins had a strong shot at the Stanley, and he is glad, but he doesn't have enough time to watch the games.
George gave two of our sons his tickets that were given to him at work for the Stars last game of the regular season. But they don't usually watch sports on tv except during football season. But if there's octopus on the ice maybe I'll work it into our homeschool schedule.

I forgot to mention before - yummm, calimari.
I am hoping my friend Nikos makes his seafood laksa to feed Pater (and maybe some of the ravening horde too) on Sunday night, it's GOOD. Lots of squid, and octopus. I never thought I'd look at octopus frying and think about how delicious it looked before we cooked it the other night! (and it was delicious, too)
