  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

My sister had a lot of success with Weight Watchers.

Hmm. That's encouraging!

A lady from work was telling me how she went on it and lost like 30 pounds in a few months.

I need to lose nearly a hundred, but 30 would be a great start!

Have you tried the good ole' alter your caloric intake to throw off your body method? Like one day take in 1200 calories, next 1800, next 1400 next 1600 next 1200? It's worked for me when I plateued. But you are right, it's much better to do some kind of excercise with diet for maximum results.

I've been doing that to some extent just because I'll eat out or over at some friends, and then do my plan faithfully again. Still, only one pound over the last couple weeks. I really do think the cardio is what's missing.

I vote we start posting progress pics to serve as 'benchmarks' to keep ourselves accountable to.

I can say from personal experience that when a whole bunch've people have seen me at a new 'best,' it serves as a powerful incentive to keep working and not indulge in thoughts of letting myself slip...for fear of letting them down.

What do you guys think?

Ah! I actually had this exact thought lately, and I've been compling some pics from January (when I started) and thinking about taking some more recent ones.

I think it would help me a lot.

I've been stuck and not losing any weight, so I'm doing a cleansing diet this week - basically consuming a LOT of liquids and raw veggies/fruits. I have until the 31...so 10 days to lose 5lbs. I can TOTALLY do this!

I have been so busy at work I haven't been able to get any cardio in and it's too hot to do anything outdoors when I get home with the boys. I will have 5 weeks this summer to hit the gym 3-4 times a week. I'm hoping to shed more pounds then. :)

I think it's awesome that you've done so well so far! How much have you lost so far and how much do you want to lose in total?

You can totally do it!

I've lost 23 pounds. I want to lose at least another 20 pounds, maybe more. It will depend on how I look and feel. For someone as short as I am, I'm really not very small boned. I'm sure that I'll always be a curvy girl, and I'm okay with that because they're in the right places. ;)

I never get tired of people looking at me all wide-eyed, "Molly, you've lost weight! You look fantastic! What are you doing?!?"

I can't wait to actually meet my goal. More importantly, be completely healthy. Type 2 diabetes and heart disease in my family stops with me.

Wow - that is absolutely fantastic!! I'm tall and have more of an athletic/curvy build, so small-boned would not be a term used to describe me, either. lol

I gained a bunch of weight in college and then lost it all - I remember the reactions I got when people saw me for the first time in a while...it was awesome! I had one guy tell me I hadn't changed at all since HS, which totally made me laugh since I had gained/lost ~30lbs.

I need to lose 35lbs total... 5lbs down, 30 to go. :help: Type 2 Diabetes is rampant in my family and I was borderline for gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy (I won't even tell you how much weight I gained :sorry:). I want to lose the weight so that I don't have to worry about health complications down the road, either.

I was just talking with a friend of mine, about how when you're a kid you don't realize that all of that 'playing' is actually keeping you in shape. I think it's quite obvious that we need to play freeze tag and do cart wheels on a regular basis. :p

You know, it really is great, but the suckiest part is that none of my favorite clothes are fitting, and I don't like that. Sometimes it's hard for me to find something in my closet that fits well and looks good on me. I wish I had mina's skills, I'd alter all of my clothing. I don't really like the idea of spending a bunch of money buying clothes that won't fit me in a month, so I'm shopping at Steve & Barry's, Ross and Marshall's, which I love anyway. I'm discovering that my body shape is changing, too. The brands of jeans that I normally buy because of the way my body is shaped don't fit me well anymore.

Anyway. It's just all very new and problems I didn't really anticipate before-- but all in all, I'm very excited and very proud of myself. Right now, I'm lighter and smaller than I ever have been in my adult life.

YAY MOLLY!

I'm so excited for you!

Thank you!! :D

I know you can totally do it, too. I've heard a lot of good things about Weight Watchers. The first time I went to my chiropractor that's what he told me to join. Point blank. I hadn't asked his opinion or anything.^_^

At least he's honest.

EDIT: I should add that he thought it would help my back a lot if I lost 10 pounds or more, not like he thought I was morbidly obese or something. Then he referred to me as top heavy. I'm starting to wonder why I still see this guy.

LOL

That's what people say about me too. :x

I'm glad to hear people have heard good things about it. It's $40 a month, so I'll have to give up some things in order to pay for it. And I didn't want to give up those things if it isn't a good program. hehe.

Weight Watchers is a really good program. That's how I lost most of the weight I have so far. I quit paying and going to meetings after I plateaued but I managed to keep the weight I'd lost off and I've gradually lost more weight and a lot of inches. I am still counting points but I have not seen the rapid success that I was seeing when I was actually paying and going to their meetings.
