My son is just over a week old and it looks like his chest is swollen around the nipples there is no fevor caugh pain ect. what causes this?

I think it is fairly common in newborns, due to hormone levels in utero. If it worries you, you should ask your doctor about it. Congratulations btw =)

Yes, it's a normal hormone thing in newborns.

This is a very normal thing to experience. If your son is not experiencing discomfort at the site of swelling then it is nothing to worry about and it should subside in a few days. The cause of this is the hormones that you pass to your baby during pregnancy and birth, eventually the hormones will subside and the swelling will go away. If it doesn't go away within a few days I would call his doctor and have him looked at just in case...but give it a few days it's normal.

My wife was worried about it i was not to badly because there is no sighn of pain fever ect.

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, it is an after affect of the hormones he got from you right before and during birth.

When in doubt, call your pediatric nurse.
