  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are many things that Adventist members and your local church can do for others, you dont have to travel oversees to look for those needing help as you can find many just around the corner. In this case, our church has a history of going the extra mile, sometimes a bit more to help others.

Every year, some of the members of our church are active in helping others in one way or another, you may find a few skilled workers in the group such as plumbers and carpenters but for the most part they are just regular members helping others...

Our church had a huge mission group just get back from Honduras.

I still haven't been on a mission trip, but once I get through school and become a nurse, I am going to make it a priority!

Are you in that picture Rojo?

They dont let me go anywhere, I must be too valuable or they draw straws and mine comes up short or something..

But most of them are from my Bible Study group or come to it so they are close friends..:)

I was asked to go on a mission trip to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, but my family was going through a lot then and didn't have enough money to go.

I look back on that and wish I would've tried harder to go, but we had a 2 year old at the time and I'm afraid we would've done more harm than good really.

Well the people there are so poor that they asked if we could go to the Spanish church and gather whatever Sabbath School lessons from whatever Quarter, Year, etc.. and send it to them as they have nothing but bibles to study at their churches....and we complain if we dont get the large print for our Sabbath School lessons, imagine......:o

My husband and I had a DVD ministry going for a little over two years. We'd get permission to copy DVDs and mail them to people that have very little resources for their churches.

We ran into some of the people we were trying to "help" having to pay customs on the stuff we sent them and it was so heartbreaking for everybody involved, but you know what? The Lord always found a way to pay that bill for them so they could get the stuff! Seriously, every single time!
