  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

and I'll let you in on one as well. why attend a church with such a radical message? why attend a church that honors Louis Farakahn?

I certainly wouldn't attend a church that advocated white power causes. This reflects poorly on Obama's character. The gospel of Christ was a uniter of men.

aww. is the media finally roughing up the golden boy? Cry me a river. I want a wah burger and some french cries. Obama mania is dying. SNL ripped the msm a new butt in regards to their coverage of Obama. The pom poms are off and the cheer leaders are now doing their jobs as reporters raising questions about who Obama really is.

While I support Obama, I do have to question why he remained a member of a church for (i believe) 20 years that had a leader espousing such worthless hate-mongering. I understand the idea that he doesn't agree with some things Wright may say ... but if I were a member of any group that I agreed with and enjoyed on many levels and the leader started talking about heterosexuals the way Wright talks about white folks, I'd have to seriously question if it were something I would feel comfortable associating with.

I would actually like to hear Obama address how he rationalizes supporting the obvious hatred of Rev. Wright (via tithes and donations to the church). And "all the good the church does" just doesn't cut it for me. The Nazi party did "a lot of good", but that doesn't justify the evil things they did.

BLACK POWER

This garbage on the other hand, does no one any good and will accomplish nothing ... unless the poster wishes for people to ignore what might be a valid complaint of Obama simply because those doing the complaining act like frothing, rabid partisans.

I'd say they're right.
Okay. I think that's an odd viewpoint for someone with a Roman Catholic icon.

You said it yourself.
Okay. If I added up all the ex-Baha'is I have encountered/heard about, it would probably be no more than a hundred. So I don't see that their leaving the Faith means the Faith is divisive.

you should have an interest in discussing politics.
Why? As near as I have been able to determine from my studies, religion is a better way to improve our society, to give future generations a better world.

If your argument is that you don't discuss politics because they're divisive, you have no business discussing your religious beliefs, since they are clearly divisive as well.
I disagree that my religion is "clearly" divisive. I think it unites people of diverse backgrounds.

And if my religion really is a message from God, as it claims to be, why should I refrain from discussing it's teachings? Isn't God's Word more important than politics?

Possible to give Rev Wright tens of thousands of dollars and not agree with him? Possible to be married in his church, have your children baptized by him, go to his church for 20 years and not be on the same page? Obama titled his book after a Rev Wright Sermon. Chicago Tribune reported last year Obama sees Rev Wright to get "his priorities straight and his moral compass calibrated." We're really supposed to believe Obama's history regarding Wright should be ignored?

Why would Obama sit through one Rev. Wright sermon much less 20 years of them if he didn't agree with Wright?

It's also worth noting that Obama says he doesn't agree with eveythng Wright says, but doesn't really come out and say which things he actually disagrees with. He may disagree with Wright on which type of cheese is best with wine but agree with him on the Farrakhan issue and the racist maessages of some of his sermons and he can still claim not to agree with him on everything

By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer Fri Mar 14, 7:57 AM ET

CLEVELAND - Barack Obama has a solid Senate record in support of Israel.

He sings the praises, too, of Jewish civil rights workers who fought for blacks' rights in the U.S. And he says he wants to patch up "a historically powerful bond between the African-American and Jewish communities."

Yet there is unease among some Jewish voters about the Illinois senator and Democratic presidential contender.
Why?
Part of it is a division between blacks and Jews that's been growing for years, a split that Obama has challenged fellow blacks to confront.

Another element is the praise Obama has received from Black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan, whose disparaging comments about Judaism are toxic to many voters. Obama's own pastor has a history of supporting Palestinian causes.
And there are questions about Obama advisers who some U.S. Jews see as less than ardent advocates of Israel.

On the day of the Mississippi primary this week, Obama took time to call Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to express condolences over the deadly terrorist attack on a rabbinical seminary in Jerusalem. He also reaffirmed his support for Israel's right to defend itself and for its commitment to negotiations with Palestinians and underscored the need to stop Iran from supporting terrorism or getting nuclear weapons.

Israel again seeking F-22s from US as insurance against Iran
F-22%20JSF.jpg
As Iran moves closer to having nuclear weapons, Israel is trying once again to acquire a batch of F-22 stealth jet fighters from the US to defend itself better in the event of a military confrontation with Tehran. An Israeli military delegation is to visit the Pentagon next week to discuss a wide range of security and defense related issues, including the continued funding of the joint Arrow anti-missile defense system as well as the possibility of Israel receiving the advanced F-22 war planes. In the past, the IAF has expressed interest in buying the next generation fighter jet, but their request was turned down on the basis of a congressional ban on the sale of the F-22 to foreign nations. But last month, US secretary of Defense Robert Gates said that the ban would be reconsidered, giving Israel new hope in acquiring the radar-evading jets. “This would be a major boost for Israel and its image of deterrence,’”a defense official told The Jerusalem Post

Umm, what did any of that have to do with what I said?

If you're just posting that because you want to post it, that's fine. But don't quote someone if what you're posting has nothing to do with what you've quoted ... just post it! lol :D You do not have to quote to make a post.

apparently fox news has obtained hours and hours of Wright's preaching and these aren't just highlight clips of his flaming rhetoric. There's plenty of it and it will continue to surface on youtube. I'm giggling like a school girl. This guy is toast. It's beautiful. So beautiful. Obama has lost all credability with the American people. His claim of ignorace in regards Wright's perveted preachings will be proven false over time. Praise the Lord, there are still a few decent Americans left that were willing to expose this monster.

You could script a better way to doom Obama's candidacy. This is just so beautiful. Better than even a gay sex scandal.

Yes, because Americans in the past have recoiled in horror from public figures with ties to people with strong religious sentiments.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., condemned racially charged sermons by his former pastor Friday and urged Americans not to reject his presidential campaign because of “guilt by association.”
Obama’s campaign announced that the minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., had left its spiritual advisory committee after videotapes of his sermons again ignited fierce debate in news accounts and political blogs.
Obama did not clarify whether Wright volunteered to leave his African American Religious Leadership Committee, a loose group of supporters associated with the campaign, or whether the campaign asked him to leave.

Wright was the latest in a series of advisers to Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., who have stepped aside as supporters of both candidates trade racially charged accusations.

I'd like to know why the points that Wright made are not being discuessed. I feel that what he preaches about does have substance to it. It seems to me that Wright has a vision of America that has a much higher moral bar than we have had historically. Isn't some of the actual history of America that has brought us a lowered moral bar the stuff very stuff the Wright preaches about? Is it so bad in America that if we talk about that dark stuff that we are un-American?
