Here's a phone call I just got (yes, at 5:45ish Pacific time).
Caller: this call is for <your mother>, this is XYZ Hospital (where she works). Is she coming in today?
Me: She's at the funeral of her brother in law today in Arizona (we live in CA)
Caller: So that means she won't be coming in?
Honestly some people just don't have a clue. 
Now see, if you had known she was a sign carrier you would have been able to cut her off at the pass.

The funeral is today (we don't waste time in my family). I'm doing okay, just feel off about not being there for my aunt and cousins. I spoke with one cousin's ex-wife and she said he's really hurting. It's like he just can't cry right now. My mother said my aunt (her sister) and my cousins are holding up about as can be expected . . thanks for asking.

I used to have a handwritten list, but that got really bad. Now I use an excel spreadsheet. I keep track of times just by listing the last reps to come in at the bottom of the list.
And I almost put someone down on my list who actually repped me for a regular post elsewhere. Can you imagine? Both actually getting repped somewhere else and almost repping him in return?

), (a) she's the unit secretary, so probably has to confirm everything said and (b) I didn't come right out and say she wouldn't be coming in. But you'd think that would be a given, what with the context and all. .
