Yeah. I remember reading that in the Penitentials, sex that is not reproductive was considered worse than adultery.Oh it's easy to understand the oral and anal sex prohbition, you can't get pregnant with either of them. That's why the Catholic Church (of which BAFRIEND is a member) calls them sinful. I don't know why MercyBurst calls them sin.
tulc(it came up in a bunch of the "Is contraception wrong?" threads)
Better hope they dont catch Moriah in uttering Teh Infernal Names
What if they caught somebody actually having a noisy [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]??
Pestilentials said WHAT???Yeah. I remember reading that in the Penitentials, sex that is not reproductive was considered worse than adultery.
You know what I'd like to see? A fundamentalist admit they're wrong in an online debate. THAT would convert so many non-Christians it would make your head spin. (That's of course an exaggeration but you get the point).
Us being honest with each other isn't part of the Gospel?
tulc(doesn't think you meant that)
Hiya Tulc.
The Gospel is Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected. Where in any of that does anyone fit in as far as "fundamentalists admitting that they're wrong in an online debate"? When you come to Christ, it's because YOU admit YOU are wrong and realize you need Him, period. Not other people being wrong or even what you think. Besides, Christ only looks at you when you come to Him, not anyone else or what you think of them.
Us being honest with each other is part of fulfililng the Law of Christ....IF we indeed are christians and belong to God. Because as it is, there is no truth in any of us apart from Christ.
Besides, how can anyone be honest with others if we are not willing to be honest with ourselves first???
Does Christ expect us to have mercy on others?
Thats all very nice, however I remain utterly convinced that the holier than thou, refusal to consider the possibility they may be mistaken attitude of many fundamentalists drives a vast number of potentially observant Christians away from ChristianityHiya Tulc.

Hey Sis!Hiya Tulc.

...which I believe was FaithLikeARock's point.Us being honest with each other is part of fulfililng the Law of Christ....IF we indeed are christians and belong to God. Because as it is, there is no truth in any of us apart from Christ.

Hey Sis!
[/size][/color]I guess what I'm saying is that the Gospel isn't just the words we use, it's the life people see us living. Sometimes people get the impression the gospel is what's contained in the Bible the reality is if we who are saved would look back over what led us to getting saved it wasn't the words people used it was the life they lived that really drew us. In a World filled with people pretending to be this or that the real thing sticks out like...well like a city set on a hill or a candle in a dark room.
...which I believe was FaithLikeARock's point.
tulc(going for more coffee, anyone want some?)
I agree.I agree with this. There are many self-righteous christians who need to get off their high horse. I know. However, what they think still has nothing to do with you personally coming to Christ. THAT choice is yours alone, regardless of what we say and do. Just like it is our responsibilty, as believers in Christ, to love people IN SPITE OF, never because of.
Because guess what, when you (not you, personally) face Him and yet did not accept Him as Lord and Savior and INCLUDE Him in your life, what are you going to say? "Lord, it's because of those self-righteous christians that I didn't want to be a christian myself! It's their fault! They should have done this and that!" And then think you deserve heaven??
He won't buy it, EP. I can tell you that right now.
Quite the case. Which is foremost and most importantly why the message of the gospel is Christ crucified. The law works on hearts that are already filled with the gospel.I agree.
However, I have been a practicing, observant Christian, all my life, brought up in a Christian(ish) household... so I've always had some basic grounding in it, why its good to be cool with God and so on...
However, to people without my background, who grow up in atheist or secular households, when they go out looking for spiritual explanations to complete them (as a good many do) and the Christians they encounter are from the "you're an evil sinner and you're WRONG about EVERYTHING, no I won't defend my beliefs with facts, if you don't believe me you're going to HELL" brand of Christian (who are, sadly, some of the loudest and easist to find) I can understand why someone without a Christian grounding, quite understandibly, says "well bugger THAT for a game of soldiers, I'm off to play with the Wiccans"
I disagree.Quite the case. Which is foremost and most importantly why the message of the gospel is Christ crucified. The law works on hearts that are already filled with the gospel.
Quite the opposite.I disagree.
The most important message of the Gospel is "Love one another"
Jesus said sop himself, that this is the greatest commandment. Live by this, and salvation will follow
"I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
