I did not want to post this on the Beautiful Day thread.
On that thread just two days ago I spoke of my own two pets, Blondie and Panda Bear and posted pictures of them. Later that very night my Panda Bear started acting a little strangely.
YEsterday we called the Vet and took her to see him. They gave her an antibiotic and by early evening the Vet called us saying she seemed to be doing better, but was still not herself yet. He was to call us the next morning which was this morning. He called this morning and said she was much worse. We went to see her this afternoon, but she was still under the anesthetic and on an IV for dehydration. She has also been given a new antibiotic which the Vet hopes will help what seems to a problem in her brain.
We have very little hope now, but the Vet felt that we needed to give her another 24 hours to see if the new antiobiotic was going to help. They have not actually been able to make a definite diagnosis, in spite of blood tests and X-ray, so really only God knows.
My wife and I do not want to give her up, but we know that sooner or later the time will come. If this is the time we are prepared for the worst.
She's not a person. She's a border collie, a dog, but we love her. To my knowledge an animal's life is the few years spent here with nothing after that but a final return to the dust. We have tried to make her 10 years to date good ones. We are the only life she knows.
