  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So men at the pinnacle of all science could offer, could only gasp out the words, in awe, that in the beginning God created. Real science and belief are tight.
so if there is a life or world changing event and someone quotes Shakespeare then good old Hamlet should be added to the bible some where between Palms and Proverbs?

The evidence is that most cultures have some underworld account. The bible also indicates the same. And the glaring fact that science has nothing to say about it, poor little thing, one way or the other.

How are the accounts evidence? Are they eyewitness accounts?

Well, to those that hint science and Christian faith don't mix, I say phooey! That doesn't mean a Christian, like Shakespeare with a gift of gab from God needs to be included in physics books.

God needs to be included in physics books.

If they do mix then i'll leave it to the individual to mix them when it comes to teaching g=9.8m/s^2 i'll leave the good lord out of that equation just in case my inclusion would cause someone to reject the force of gravity because of the invocation of God or certain God

Spirits live there. Why would they check in to a PO hotel?

I asked for a reason. "Spirits live there" is not a valid reason because you haven't given a reason to believe that.
So, if you can give a good reason to believe that, then I will agree with you.

Besides, you have no reason to assume otherwise.

So? SO!? You don't believe that there is an invisible, spiritual hamster sitting on your desk at the moment, but you have no reason to assume otherwise!

"Not having a reason to assume otherwise" is NOT NOT NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

It's good enough for the HI theory. Don't forget the first law, it's easy to make things up.

On the contrary. I think a more major belief system, tried over centuries, is a better scheme than some wild baseless fantasies, that got by pretending they were science.

That's nice... reasons? I'm not just going to take your argument-from-tradition word on it.

Only useful where the empire of the present rules. That ain't very far.

And the past, and the future... ever heard of inference?

Bible. God really is moving right here forever. No ego involved.

That, and a LOT of imagination.

The quote you misused, to pretend I said God should be in the physics book was this

"That doesn't mean a Christian, like Shakespeare with a gift of gab from God needs to be included in physics books.

As for gravity, that is temporary. You should leave the good Lord out of it.

I asked for a reason. "Spirits live there" is not a valid reason because you haven't given a reason to believe that.
It is valid, because spirits are not physical.

So, if you can give a good reason to believe that, then I will agree with you.
The only way we will agree is if you get saved. Even then, it might take a good long while.

So? SO!? You don't believe that there is an invisible, spiritual hamster sitting on your desk at the moment, but you have no reason to assume otherwise!
Doesn't sound like a sound proposition to me. If you give me documented evidence that most cultures claim there is a creature we can't see on my desk, I'll take another look at your claim. You simply seem to think you can make an invention of your imagination, equal to worldwide historical documented real claims. No. All things are not equal. Learn the difference.
"Not having a reason to assume otherwise" is NOT NOT NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Good, then stop assuming otherwise.

YUP!
I am convinced; this is the very same DAD as before.

I pay homage to your greatness. All hail DAD:bow::bow::bow:

It is refreshing to have posters who truly believe in cartoon physics. Oh! Have you seen the one where Bugs goes to the moon and falls in love with a female moon bunny?

:D:wave:
Men really did go to the moon, as hard as that might be to believe. Besides some of them reading the bible, having communion, and such, one guy proceeded to climb mount Ararat looking for the ark, he was so spiritually moved.
Such is the real world. Yup. (Oh, and you can get up now, at ease)

I agree!

Men did go to the moon by using the very Science creationists dismiss!

Praise be to you oh great DAD.

Believe it or not, I really did miss you with your long absence.

You are OUR biggest Ally in the struggle against Creationism!

Keep up the good work.

It flies, as some poster alluded to, blind as a bat, in anything related to that department. So it isn't even a player for counter claims of the well known.

And 1000 years ago it was well known that the world was flat and chimera's excisted. Did this make it true?

Anyways since you claim the underworld excist can you please tell me how that can be proven? Do we just need to dig a hole? If so how deep?

It depends. In some places it is very close to ground level. Oil companies actually tap into hell and use the black Hell Blood for profit. The side-effects are usually WAR! pollution, and EVIL Presidents!

I never heard of any bible believer in the creation dismiss rocket science. Or any actual science. Nice try. No, you may not sneak in the pseudo sciences based on a myth in under the dress of real science.

Praise be to you oh great DAD.
No thanks. I need neither patronizing or praise.

So you are in some struggle against creation, with others, are you? Good luck with that.

"...made of the parts of multiple animals" If that is the chimera you mean, yes, it is true. The myth that it was widely believed that the earth was flat, I have never seen anyone support.
The spiritual and the physical combined made for some strange combinations. Sometimes, if not always, it represented a spirit in the body of a man as well. Like the Sphinx. That was made, they claim by the moon god. They often appeared as a creature, like a bird, or whatever. So it does not have to mean that a man was half animal. For that sort of thing, I would look to the monsters of the present, and their Frankenstein genetical tinkering. Sticking all sorts of things together that do not belong to see what they can cook up. Like evil children.

Anyways since you claim the underworld excist can you please tell me how that can be proven? Do we just need to dig a hole? If so how deep?

Well, I assume there is also some spiritual material in the center of this earth. Until demonstrated otherwise. Who really knows? If you can get all the way to the center of the earth, let us know about it. Otherwise, as you say, how could you prove it?? My best advice---don't claim stuff you can't begin to prove. Really.
