Keep this on topic now. No adam and eve or adam and steve debate. lol

And I wasn't trying to start the whole homosexual debate. It was just a question. Another human being could have provided companionship. Didn't necessarily have to be a woman. That's all I was getting at.

I know I was just joking. You do have a good point there, but I believe thats more proof that God wants us to be married, to the opposite sex I might add. Sorry if I stirred up a hornets nest.

Why didn't he create another man then?
because i think God created marriage to be a good thing and having a mate/spouse is a good thing. And that for most, God doesn't want us to go through life alone and that it's ok to want that (a mate). jmo

Given the divorce rate in this country, I don't understand the purpose of marriage either. Every person who has made a decision of 'till death do us part' and divorced, is a LIAR.

I completely agree. I am an extremist when it comes to this. I don't believe in divorce at all--not even for infidelity... For better or worse... til death do us part. I hope I find a man that believes the same.

You bring up a good point man. The divorce rate is pretty wild is this country, even among christians, but that shouldn't take away from our desire to get married. I firmly believe that if you trust in God to help you find you're spouse that you will be happily married.

Why is marriage even desireable if divorce rates (*) proof you're more likely to ultimately *not* be happy in a marriage? I don't see the point.

(*) In our country, divorce rates went over 50% in the last 5 years, meaning more than every second marriage breaks apart at some point in time.

Divorce rates express dissatisfaction with one's marriage. Lower divorce rates would simply mean that more people *continue* to live in unhappy marriages. I believe divorce rates simploy rise because the stigma of being divorced is waning.

My parents are divorced. Now me and them are both happy (i supported them in their decision, in fact). Would it be better if they had stayed together despite their incompatibility, just to lower statistics?

I think what I was suggesting was that if the marriages were for the proper reasons, then they would be unhappy. Sometimes things change, but a divorce rate that high implies that the relationships behind them were not built to last.

As Christians, we aren't supposed to be of this world... therefore statistics should mean nothing. We are set apart. I know I refuse to be just another statistic. I was never one to conform to much of anything though ^_^.
