CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As anyone can do this with any set of beliefs... this is meaningless.

Alright, before this catfight explodes into something else, I'd prefer to get back to the topic.
I think Pascal's Wager is an innate evolutionary mechanism built into early human civilisation (and continues to this day). That is, you don't know much to be confident about yourself and the world around you, and when someone makes a claim that could possibly be a threat to you (a.k.a HELL), you play the safe card and join the faith.

If evolution is a fairy tale, you must be saying that it is both on the micro and macro scale. Evolution and natural selection has been proven time and time again with bacteria. You going to deny that it is evolution? Have the results been doctored? Did we engineer bacteria to be resistant. No. Evolution can be proved. Creationism cannot be proved. Big difference.
