  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You don't know that the original Hebrew found is not the truth, and that your King James is wrong because you were not present at the creation of the text.

But I'm on the trailing edge of its preservation; and the more time goes on, the more that verse stands out as accurate.

Face it, the day after that prophecy was made --- big deal.

But two millennia later? Now that's something!

Joh 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
Joh 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
Joh 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

v17 - you try the doctrine (see matt 5-7) it works.

(Mat 6:4) That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

(Mat 6:6) But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

(Mat 6:18) That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

try it. alms, prayer, fasting --- faith.

only personal experience will suffice as evidence, God's existence cannot be ascertained by science, as science can only form theories about those things which can be measured and have data recorded on.
and I'm sure that if God wanted to, he could make himself measurable by theories. Questions is: Why doesn't he? Does he WANT people to go to hell because they don't believe in him?

The "Famous" comment was a joke. As for the fact that you don't know anything about evolution, how do you know that the Bible contradicts it?

q.v. my OP here.

Furthermre, how do you know the bible to be true?

Oh-oh --- are we going to start repeating ourselves? That's an invitation for me to checkmark this thread into cyberspace.

I know the Bible to be true because It was preserved throughout the millennia by Its Author.

Well then, you DO know some things about evolution.

There are religious texts that have survived longer. Ever heard of the Vedas?

So, they all say the same wrong thing. How does this prove your case?

Ah yes --- nothing like potshots from the peanut gallery, eh?

There are those who explain things, and then there are those who sit and take potshots at those who are explaining things.

So how exactly is a translation equal to a purification?

For one thing, the wording was slightly changed to fit the genre of the audience.

For another, and the KJV is a good example of this, we actually use the KJV, 5[sup]th[/sup] edition.

As Gail Riplinger puts it, the one that came out in 1611 was "polished" four times to a high gloss.

In other words, typos and such were removed.

I actually have a digitally-remastered 1st edition, and it's hard to read unless you know how to read it.

How do you know that this happened, instead of it just getting worse?

How can you assume that the 10+th translation is better than what was written down by the man who heard God talk to him?

Typos? You're kidding right?

Well, if you had bothered to explain it well, you wouldn't be seeing any "potshots."

All you've come up with is "It's true because it says the same thing as those other 6" -- which doesn't explain why the other 6 aren't just as good.

Act 28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

That's what the parables are all about. Revealing whilst simultaneously hiding.

God has hidden himself from you solely because of your pride. He gives grace to the humble. to those who revere and fear and love him. He reveals himself to you through his parables, and his servants, and this website, but you refuse to hear lest you be converted and healed.

I rejoice with the Lamb himself to our Father that he has hidden these things from you, who think so highly of yourself.

(Mat 11:25) At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

(Luk 10:21) In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

And where did he do this?

I don't know where you're from, but here in America years ago, Zenith [TV's] had a neat slogan:

  • The quality goes in before the name goes on.
Do you see God's name on the cover?

Hint:

Isaiah 57:15 said:
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy...

That's gotta be the worst apologetic I've heard to date.

"Holy Bible" is God's name? Make the hurting stop!

As for your claims of biblical corruption, God has this to say to you:

Psa 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

No errors left.

That phrase was corrupted. ;)

The Vedas, as I pointed out to Frumious Bandersnatch, cannot be what they claim to be, as they would have had to come after the Flood, not before it.
