Okay, I'll shed what's in my purse since someone wants to know. These are just the standard stuff I never leave home without.

4 types of lipgloss (standard colors)
nail file
wallet
cell phone
mints/gum
halls
various make-up things (sometimes)
car keys
school id tag
pen/pencil/highlighter
sunglasses
personal stuff (don't want me to name)
Pill related stuff
eye drops
change
camera
hand lotion
compact mirror
hair ties
flash disk
food (sometimes)
calculator (sometimes)

I know some people who carry a bag mainly just to hold their work ID. It sounds strange but whatever helps you remember your ID (as we can't get into the building without them).

Personally, I always carried my ID badge in my wallet and the badge clip was clipped to my keyring. Then I would put them together at the beginning of each day. (Kind of like in the Man With the Golden Gun, where the guy assembled his gun out of a gold lighter and some other gold accessory).

That's what trucks are for. Except for the 4 kinds of lipgloss. Colors...? I prefer flavors.:p

As a man if I can't fit it in my pocket it's probably not a necessity. (day to day) Cell phone front left pocket. Keys and wallet (which consists of one of those black office clip thingys and all the necessary "cards" Id, atm, cc, work id, cash etc. front right pocket.
I pack more junk if I'm going on a trip. Even though I made fun, I agree with Coach about the backpack especially on a bike ( you can't have things moving around when you're traveling at a high rate of speed) or a hike.

One good thing about smaller bags, some stores don't allow you to carry backpacks or large bags into the store. They make you leave it the front counter. But I doubt they would make a woman leave her purse there.
Some stores do.

Just from a woman's experience. A lot of the comic book/hobby type stores. I have two in mind right now.

There's no such thing as a homosexual style. As for crossing over between things traditionally considered feminine or masculine, that's definitely a good thing... individuality is much better than following stereotypes. :)
Worddddd.

Men crossing over to the feminine is not a good thing. You can call it individuality if you want. Most people call them drag queens.

Coach

The more effeminate a man looks the less he resembles a man and there is no such thing as neutral gender fashion.

I carry about as much as I possibly can in my pockets - phone, iPod, keys, pocket Bible, and wallet. And I use a messenger bag mostly when I go to church or to read somewhere so I don't have to carry my big study Bible, notebook, some books, and sometimes my laptop or camera gear. There's absolutely nothing effeminate about using a messenger bag to carry stuff in.

I see a lot of guys carrying messenger bags on campus. Messenger bags themselves aren't weird to me. But this one guy was carrying a messenger bag that looked like it was MADE to look like crap... it was all tattery and stuff and made out of some weird material... now that was odd to me.

But most guys seem to wear bookbags or just carry their books. I haven't noticed men with bags outside of school....

It's a mystery. It's like why socks disappear in the dryer. Don't ask and they won't have to make your death look like an accident.
Next time I'm on a date, I'm totally peeking.

I'll take my purse with me only if you promise to share your lip gloss with me. ^_^

The only lip gloss I have is already on my lips, and it was from another girl's to begin with. And YES, you can have some. :D

Coach
What makes you think it's not a good thing?

I'll try to explain why, in my opinion, it's good. Considering some things "feminine" and "masculine" is a purely cultural thing, it's not natural. By not allowing some people to do/use/wear/etc. things which are traditionally considered to be only for the other gender, you deprave them of the possibility of self-expression. Self-expression is a good thing, because every human is naturally unique and different than everyone else... so making some generalized cultural standards which declare some things as appropriate for some people, but not other people, is an unfair double-standard which goes against people's nature, and therefore is harmful. That's why destroying these unnatural and pointless barriers gives people the possibility to express their natural individuality. :) I also think that if people were allowed to live in harmony with their personal unique nature, instead of being forced to suppress it, there would be less negative and harmful thoughts and emotions within them, and therefore there would be less evil in the world. :)
