CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My mom got remarried to a guy she met over the internet. She said she met some creeps beforehand (and while he treats her nice, I am not a big fan).
I don't know if she was using a dating site though.
I have heard that online dating works well if you are just looking for dates, never worked for me though.

Just talked to eHarmony about cancelling membership after the 7 day trial and they offered an extension. So I guess this will go on till the 29th.
I'm starting to get boored with the process, I prefer real life on the streets people - well not strangers, that's kind of wierd, but you know aquaintenance of an aquaintenance type of thing.
Also convinced my 70+ year old landlord to give it a try, he doesn't have a computer but his son next door does.....I think it would be good for him, cuz I know he's real lonely. Gave some suggestions for other social activties too, like ballroom dance.

it's full of half-truths and is far from worth it. I took the test and I was "rejected" [which is ironic because the site itself claims to be the "ultamate matchmaker"]. Of course it's the ultimate matchmaker... they only accept people that are unflawed in every aspect.

I'll probably pop up as a match one of these days. At first it was doing real good and giving me good matches from nearby. And I did see a girl for a little while that I met on it.
But its like gone on the fritz and is popping up matches for people in excess of an 8 hour drive away. I've even got one from Arizona and thats a 4 hour plane flight!
Give it a little while and it will probably go so far out and start pulling you up.
The other thing I don't like, which I don't know if the men act like this to but the women just constantly close down matches after the first 5 questions. And most of these questions are like random get to know your likes and dislikes.
Maybe its just me but I can't immediatly decide that I don't like a person or that I don't want to date that person based off 5 questions like that.
But I do think there are good points to it too. But its losing value for me.
But don't try match.com though. That was the worst.

Oh I definitely know to close a match after certain questions. I won't compromise on premartial sex, they already have to have their own convictions.
LIkes and dislikes I don't close out so much, but I've been closed by that.... I think it was because it was a pastor looking for someone artistic (musical, singing or something of that nature). I guess writing and films doesn't count.

Ok the pre-marital sex question is in there and I asked her the same question and she said she was completly opposed to it and I also answered that I was completly opposed to it. The rest where the random likes and dislikes questions.
Its annoying.
And then there are the women who you can tell are closing the match down cause they arn't attracted to you.

Here's a synopsis of my eHarmony experience: personality profile wasn't accurate, matches didn't match, one was a man.
lol a man? I wonder how that happened. I thought it was only for man-woman dating not man-man or woman-woman dating

I did a trial a while back, then quit. Then recently I filled out their profile thing again and it said I was unsuitable

Just thought I'd update on what happened with signing with eHarmony. I tried 2 weeks on a free trial and cancelled. Was able to get 4 matches to open communication and email. Probably only because I kept my matching open across Europe and North America.
Well I was unaware at how unsafe such an expensive matching service could be, till one guy warned me of a Nigerian Scam. It happened to him twice, but lukily no money was taken from him, only his cell phone number. HEre's a link I found on stories similiar to his experience

OK, yes I know there's a bunch of people that will say "see, I told you so". but I still haven't given up on at least 3 of the men I'm corrisponding with.
