  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Abortions just as common in countries that ban it as in ones that don't: study

I thought that was what you were saying.
Well, if USA outlaws abortions. I will certainly consider making regular bus trips to Canada.
You have "regularly scheduled" abortions?

The single most effective way to reduce abortion would be to have a universal, free, childcare system provided from birth to adulthood. That way, nobody would be forced into having an abortion by economic circumstances.

For some strange reason, almost no pro lifers call for that. I guess lower taxes is more important then 'saving babies'.
Yeah, who needs a private economy.

A young man learned how to think like a liberal in college. He was filled with hate for the system, he saw it as evil and corrupt. His dad asked him about his good grades in school. The young man said he worked hard to earn them. The Dad asked why he didn't give some of his good grades to some of those that failed. The young man said "I earned those grades, those bums did nothing but party and got just what they worked for, nothing"
The Dad said" welcome back, to reality.

Because everyone who'd take advantage of a free childcare system is totally a bum. Just like my co-worker at a previous job, who has been given an ultimatum by her employer that she has two weeks to find a new job or a new daycare because they want her to work past the time her daycare closes (The daycare charges 5 bucks per minute late and they want her to work an hour and a half past closing time once a week). Nevermind she works full time to provide for her child and has been to college. Yeah, if she used this free childcare system to KEEP HER JOB and benefit her baby she'd be a total deadbeat and a loser.

Disclaimer: That was sarcasm. I believe that children and their care and education should come first in this society.

Her husband is alive?

Yes, I agree, there are needs that should be met, circumstances that go out of control.
I am talking about a system, not a specific case.

Labour theory of value?

Besides, it's simple. What's more important to you? The private economy (which is anything but, because the current system is based largely on corporate bodies being given special governmental treatment. It's not merely based on the free exchange of goods) or the welfare of children? Should children be punished for being born into poverty?

Better than being murdered because are going to be born that way.

I'd rather be poor and uncared for than dead.

Communist childcare will lead to Communist kids..... I'd rather have abortions.

How are these not mutually exclusive statements?

"In North America, there are 33 abortions for every 100 live births, while in Africa, where abortion is illegal in most countries, there are 17 abortions for every 100 live births."

This totally blows away the point of the article since abortion is legal in North America and illegal in Africa. There are more abortions where it is legal.

Good question:

I'd prefer being alive and poor to being dead.
I'd prefer being dead to being a Communist.

Hence, they are not mutually exclusive. I hope that clear it up.

But the thing is these women are not out to murder their so called child just for the sake of going muahaha I am going to kill my child! They know they risk death so think about it for a second just how desperate do you have to be to possibly get yourself killed in a rather painful way? And you might as well drop your little fantasy of ALL women carrying their children to term. It ainlt going to happen even disregarding artifical abortion entirely you are forgetting that often times thing with the body just donlt go right./
Also do you have any solution as to how we would eliminate abortiions entirely? Or are you just complaining yet have no solutions of your own?

Little tiny point, but I'd say it's much nearer to socialism than Communism - it's basically the same principal as a tax-funded health system like the NHS or other basic tenants of the welfare state.

Do I detect a racist comment coming on?
Actually, I was going to point out that the impossibility of accurate reporting there combined with the general lack of access to things like safe abortion clinics is skewing the numbers to a rather significant degree.
