  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Abortions just as common in countries that ban it as in ones that don't: study

This is why making abortion illegal will do nothing to stop abortions, it will only worsen women's health.

If you really want to stop abortions, sex ed and easy available contraception is the best way to go.

Unfortunately, so many anti-abortioners are also opposed to sex ed and available contraception.

But anti-abortion activists seem to oppose contraception, comprehensive sex-ed, health care aid to women, and the creation of a culture friendly to young an/or unwed mothers.

That is becuase in the end a vast majority of the so-called Pro-Life crowd dont give a flying feather about the actual baby or mother but are instead trying to enforce their own screwd morals on people("sehx are teh evul !"and so forth)

Well, if the women who health is affected are the ones who get abortions, and we can assume offenders are likely repeat offenders, aren't we reducing the number of abortions in the long run?
Do you mind rephrasing this question. I am having trouble understanding your logic.

I have no idea what you just said. But I think it terrifies me.

Of course, its all part of our "culture of life" that Bush was talking about.

It seems that another study also showed that abortions are actually going down in many places where abortions are allowed.

It seems the Pro-Lifers might've found the answer to the problem. They're killing more babies trying to illegalize abortion than if they did nothing.

Oops!

The arguments are not in order, let me spell them out chronologically for those who think that way:

A. If abortion is unsafe and unhealthy for the mother, chances are the mothers will either :

1. Not be healthy enough to get pregnant again.
2. Be too scared to have a second abortion.
3. Not be alive to conceive another child they kill.

B. Therefore, I don't see how unsafe abortions are such a bad thing. In the long run, there will be fewer because there will be less repeat offenders.

Where it all breaks down is wealthy woman will simply jet set to Europe to get their abortions in a safe environment. Those are the people we really want to reproduce, and then we will be left with the poor having more children.

I thought that was what you were saying.
Well, if USA outlaws abortions. I will certainly consider making regular bus trips to Canada.

The single most effective way to reduce abortion would be to have a universal, free, childcare system provided from birth to adulthood. That way, nobody would be forced into having an abortion by economic circumstances.

For some strange reason, almost no pro lifers call for that. I guess lower taxes is more important then 'saving babies'.

Communist childcare will lead to Communist kids..... I'd rather have abortions.

If a woman dies while trying to murder her child ...
I'd call that poetic justice.

More bad PR for theocratic christianity, more shooting yourself in the foot, more being your own worst enemy.

Thanks.

Please carry on.
