  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hiya, everyone.

Joe had an idea for us to have a thread - eventually a sticky - for seekers to read about us, and our beliefs. A place for them to ask questions and learn all about Christ. His original post is here. It includes a link to the Baptist thread where it started.

Here's some of his ideas as to what we should include.

I think it would be good to get people's ideas about what the sticky should include, via a gentle discussion and sharing of ideas either on this thread or in a new one.

I don't think the sticky should be in formal in tone as our set of rules. A warmer form of discourse should be employed.

The Baptist sticky is nice in that seekers are encouraged to post on that thread any thoughts, feelings or questions they have. They are assured that some friendly Christians will answer.

We might also ask if they have any concerns that we could add to the prayer list?

Would we include some simple apologetic evidences to encourage faith?

I think the sticky should include the importance of recieving Jesus (John 1:12) to make a distinction between real faith and head knowledge.

I think the best thing now might be for people to look at the Baptist's sticky and point out where it is good, and where there is room for improvement.

We figured once we've figured out collectively what we want to say, someone can write it up and it can be stickied.

What do you all think? And what do you think should go into it? And do you have any concerns about it, at all?

EDIT: I'll keep updating the list below as and when y'all think of something fab :)

Possible things to include:

- What Christianity is

- How to become a Christian

- Testimonies

- Apologetics

- Prayers

- Verses

It looks like a few people have inluded brief testimonies, also. Everyone has contributed something to the thread. It's so uplifting to read :) So maybe not just a single post with a load of information. A whole vibrant thread full of Truth and anecdotes and apologetics and love, solely geared towards seekers/non-Christians/anyone who lurks and reads but doesn't post.

Wonderful Idea! I will post my testimony shortly. Jim is training me right now.

Cool. This is just the pre-cursor thread, though, for us to work out whether everyone agrees with it, and what people want included. We'll start a separate thread that'll be official. This is the backstage area :p

I think this will be very interesting...and I mean in a good way....:)

We have people here within different denominations and we should keep in mind that everyone will see things differently especially theologically. I think it will be a wonderful testimony that we come from different backgrounds in regards to denominations, and that we can give our views and be respectful to each other.

The one thing we all can agree on and keeps us united spiritually and that is Jesus. We know He is the way, the truth and the light! That is our definate reason of why we're here and fellowshipping with one another, and let's let people see this in our threads if they sneak a peek.

Maybe when we give our testimonies (if we felt led to), we can explain why we felt lead to the Catholic Church, the Baptist Church, Lutheran Church, etc. But let's keep it respectful. I'm not part of the Catholic Church, but I will not put it down in explaining why I'm a certain denomination and not Catholic.

I hope ya'll get the gist of what I'm saying....let's enoy this...:)

I've got a where to look when... Bible verse list. There is one like it in the "For New Christians" section, and it's a great resource!

So this in a way will be a thread in which we share our experiences as Christians (or I guess you could say testimonies) with those who are not yet, but may be considering becoming a Christian?
Yay! Testimonies, and verses, and little prayers and experiences and historical facts, and a whole thread of wonderfulness! Yeah, for people who lurk and want to get an insight into what it's all about. Like a pick'n'mix of yummy treats that people can dip in and out of :D Do you think it's a good idea, duck?

Oh that would be wonderful! What verses does it have?
