  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is Why Homosexuality is Wrong. . .

How does one get concent? "Hey, buddy, do you want to go to bed?" Or is it subtle and seductive.... "You know, I can see you are a sensitive young man, perhaps you are just different ---- let me give you a hug."
In the same way as one gets consent for heterosexual sex. How many times do we need to explain that the only difference between homosexual relationships and heterosexual ones is the genders of the persons involved?

Well, that article settles it. Homosexuality is a disease and an illness.

That'll work out well for me... My husband is working on my birthday, so I'll just have him call in gay on my birthday... He can say he caught that 24-hour gay bug that's been going around, and he's sure he'll be back to heterosexual in 24 hours, and then perfectally able to come to work.

I swear, articles like this...
It is kind of like smoking. The first time is is revolting but if you think that you are being a rebel, or getting one over , or fitting in, you try it again. The next time is not so difficult. By the third it begins to become second nature. The same as shooting the enemy. The first time someone shoots another, he throws up. The next time is always easier. And all the excuses begin to make convenient sense. Once the abuse of sex, durgs, eating begins; to stop, is almost impossible ---- especially without help. AND, if all the "help" only confirms that what you are doing is OKAY, well ----- need I say more?

Really? But I liked smoking the first time I had a cigarette. What does that say about your hypothesis? Once again, your analogy fails. Homosexuality harms no one. Smoking and shooting does.

So, the homosexual goes down the street to the house of someone he "likes, " knocks on the door and says, "Hello Mrs. Smith, I'd like to date your son Bruce, and take him to the school dance." Yes, that sounds like that happens every day for homosexuals across the world....

That sounds like an awkward way to get someone into the sack, but if it works for you...

It says you have at least two habits with serious consequences. I do hope you quit smoking, but I imagine that you cannot do that either...

You imagine this happens in the hetero realm? What era are you in, 1949?

So homosexuality is all about getting people in the sack? Heterosexuality can be about marriage and having children and establishing a family.

LittleNipper,

To make this analogy persuasive, you first have to show that homosexuality is analogous to...

* Smoking, where there is scientific evidence that it damages health
* Shooting, where there actual or attempted is injury/death done to a person
* Drug abuse/overeating, where again there is scientific evidence that it damages health (we'll leave marijuana out for now, as there is a debate over its harmfulness/harmlessness)

You also have to define "abuse of sex" better for us, to make sure we know what it means to you. This is especially important because you've already established that you have a different views on sex and sexuality than most of the others on this thread.

I do not still smoke, but I do still miss it. I like the taste and the buzz. And what is the second habit with serious consequences?

It happen among nice people who are trying to do what is best for the one they care about. I asked my future father-in-law, if I might marry his daughter. It was hardly 1949. We've been married 22 years.

I don't know many people who try to "fit in" by having sex with the same sex.

But anyways...I rellly really don't know any people who realized they were gay that way. Usually they know before hand. If someone just randomly decided to start having sex with the same sex and realized they liked it...well they're gay to begin with or bisexual. However if a straight person did this...chances are they no likey.

People don't become gay by having sex with the same sex. Its definitely not like smoking.

How do heterosexuals reproduce, in order to establish a family? They get in the sack! (Alternatively they adopt, use artificial insemination, etc, but LN -- he was patterning his response after your post, and calling him on it is rather disingenuous.)

I disagree. Gay sex was forced on me. It is my preference now after 6 years.

If you want to convince us -- and you have yet to convince anyone participating in this thread to change sides -- you have to provide some real-world proof.

The question was about how homosexuals get consent for sex. Nothing about marriage or starting a family. But since you bring it up, homosexual relationships can be about the same things.
