Let's see what the bible says about this...
Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (pay close attention to these words)
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Mt 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. (Notice that it was the Spirit that lead Jesus to be tempted BY satan.)
Satan had NO POWER over Jesus that which the Spirit didn't allow.
Ok--here is the defining text--"Joh 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me." )Meaning that satan found NO sympathizing tendancy to yield). Jesus ABHORRED sin. It was an affront to His tender and selfless mind.
Now--going back to the text I underlined in Ja 1;13.. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. This line shows us that Jesus indeed possess the PRE-FALL nature of Adam, because he had NO LUST in Him. This is why satan found NOTHING in Jesus that would cause Him to DESIRE His own WILL (selfishness).
Jesus COULD have sinned, just as Adam did. But Jesus succeeded where Adam failed.
The bible tells us that Jesus always got up before dawn to go to a secluded place to spend HOURS in prayer with the Father to prepare Himself for the rigors of the day. Satan hounded Jesus as NO man has ever been hounded. After all--the fate of satan AND the whole universe hung in the balance.
Jesus didn't sin because #1. He REFUSED to and #2. he had recieved power from the Father to not to. Jesus had NO ADVANTAGE over us that is not available to us thru the inpouring of the Holy Spirit to resist. If He had--then He could not be our SYMPATHIC High priest. Friends--we sin because WE WANT TO--PERIOD.
Now=-as far as the senerio in the garden when He prayed for this cup to pass.
I see this as two fold. Number one--God has told us that death is the ENEMY. God is the God of LIFE and He has put within each of us--and the animals too--a fierce desire to protect and hold onto this GIFT of live.
Jesus was feeling that over-powering desire to LIVE. Nothing wrong with that. Because never once did He think to put His will before the Fathers. Because He asked, "If there be another WAY'. After the answer came--He accepted His Fathers plan.
Also--His profound LOVE for His disciples AND the rest of mankind made His heart ache to know that he was going to have to leave and not be physically with them for a long time. He also realized their great need for Him--this is why he sent the Holy Spirit as a Comforter.
Yes, Jesus was Divine, but very much human as well. And those human tender feelings for friends and family ran deep in His heart. Just as our hearts long to be with those we love, so His heart pained at the idea of leaving them.
