Could it be because it is "Christian Forums"? Why havent you started an "Atheist Forum"?

Yeah, why dont you go ahead and do that? The audacity of an atheist wanting to define our Christian values.

Sir, you work for the competition. If Pepsi’s CEO went to Coke’s CEO and gave him advice on how to improve their product - you really think Coke would follow his advice? (Hint: Pepsi wouldnt really be interested in improving Coke's product.)

Yeah, man. C'mon over here to THIS side of the street where there are NO yucky atheists! You might catch IT!

No, it has to do with their inability to be in Christian leadership to any extent. Thanks for playing.
Call me stupid, call me slow... I just don´t get it.

What has moderating an internet forum to do with "Christian leadership" or "teaching"?

Many Christians may also believe that there are certain spiritual principals that are relevant to this issue also. :)

I don't think that is what he was getting at but we should always be open to witnessing to them just not vice versa ;)

By extension I want to add to this since it has been hammered on so much ...
If they are asking for true equality on this board then they are asking for the same right to witness to us and therefore try to deconvert us away from Christianity ....

Thus then this would truly no longer be Christian Forums but it would take on a life of it's own

Again, your problem stems from the idea that this is simply another forum on the internet and not a Christian ministry.

It has to do with the same reason that every political candidate out there is suddenly talking about their "faith". It has nothing to do with good leadership. It has to do with overcoming the yucky factor, even if one has to lie to do it. Better, to sock yourself up and pretend to be a Christian than to come here with honest intentions and questions.

Any chance we can have a Sticky thread over in the Ask Staff area that lists all Mods, their past names (if any) and their active sockpuppets if any?

The deceit inbuilt into the system has always been worrying.

Not sure why you keep going on about this, it isn't (or at least, wasn't) against the rules for anyone to have a sock or two, as long as they were not trying to evade a ban by using them.

No, it's actually an anti-political issue. If this is a Christian ministry, it should be run by Christians in a hierarchical structure. It has nothing to do with a "yucky factor" as I believe many of the non-Christian moderators we currently have are fantastic in their positions, and are very cool people to boot. Please don't get the wrong idea here.

In terms of unbelievers "moderating the Christians" within the Christian section is unbiblical. I have no problem for unbelievers to moderate non-Christian sections. Biblically, accountability involves "one anothers" that every members are encouraged to be actively serving and ministering their gifts within their faith. Christ commanded, encouraged to grow spiritually, and serving Christ effectively. Every believer who attends a Church of faith, commitment, and fruitfulness.

James 5:16................Confess to and Pray for one another
Colossians 3:13...........Forgive one another
Colossians 3:16.......... Counsel one another
Galatians 6:2..............Bear one another's burdens
Titus 1:13.................Rebuke one another (with love)
1 Thessalonians 4:18....Comfort one another
Hebrews 10:25...........Exhort one another
Romans 14:19............Edify one another
Romans 15:14............Counsel one another
Galatians 5:13............Love one another
Ephesians 4:12...........Love one another
1 Peter 1:22..............Love one another

And even if it is a Christian ministry, it is still an internet forum.

If I see you throwing paper on the ground in your church, and admonish you... would you debate me on the ground that I am not a Christian and you are in a Christian church? Even if we both can read the big sign hanging at the wall "No littering!"?

Just as long as we're clear that they are, indeed, perfectly capable of doing the job, and you're objecting on ideological grounds. I've always thought it important to ensure clarity where naked <staff edit> is concerned.

No, but if you were asking to take part in a ministerial aspect of the Church, or asking to help administrate or enforce the rules (in a much broader sense than what you provided in your example) in a Church, I'd have to wonder what kind of Church we were visiting.

Part of being on staff should effectively be a ministerial position on staff, that should always be a prerequisite for any staff position.

All I am saying is that the administration of this site has never been completely Christian. It didn't hurt a thing. Second, if one truly wanted to be on staff, all one had to do was lie about their faith. Finally, mods are not here to minister but ADMINISTER. There is a difference.

Huh?

I could throw baseless claims at you, but I seriously doubt that would do much other than insult you and bait you into insulting me back, which would just be completely pointless, so why don't we both take a step back and not go down that road, okay?

Of course when you cannot get your point across in a polite and friendly manner, one can always resort to name calling! :)
