.. because I don't see the option I would choose ...

Option #1 pretty much puts the kibosh on the original CF vision which I think is a good one, to unite ALL Christians in a place of fellowship and unity as one body.

Option #2 however returns to the "old regime" which allows certain contingents to lord it over others as to what is a "Christian" and to dictate in matters of theology and spiritual understanding what people can and cannot share, and I found it heinous that I could not share what the Lord was showing me in the Bible because someone deemed it too heterodox or whatever.

I want to see more freedom to post openly on matters of faith and interpretation of scripture WITHOUT restriction, and take away all the bad things that let unscrupulous self-righteous people "rule the roost" and define what is and is not of the Way for other followers of Christ BUT I want this to stay a CHRISTIAN fellowship, where non-believers are WELCOME but Christians still have areas on the board to share amongst themselves, too.

Does that make sense?

So I need to know really whether option #2 would preserve this because option #1 would make this stop being a Christian site and to be honest, well, that's why I come here, because it's Christian. If it just becomes generic anything goes it won't be any different from any other generic anything-goes board.

Can't we have the vision of uniting all Christians as one body WITHOUT the hateful divisions and divisiveness backed up by unnecessary rules defining someone else's walk for them? I'm sure TPTB here are smart enough to figure out how to do that, right?

And another thing, do away with the secrecy. People should be able to face their accusers, to know who is reporting them and WHY, and to discuss mod actions they don't agree with. The cloak of secrecy is just a place for vermin to hide and abuse the facilities of the board. If you're worked up enough about a post to report it, you should not be afraid to have others know it was you who did so. That way stalkers who waste the moderators time on their petty little vendettas can be weeded out pronto.

OK that's my 20 cents for the day

THIS is the kind of thing I am talking about...athesits being rude to Christians! NOT right NOR fair. Personally I don't think athesist should be in mod/leader positions. HOW can they weigh in on say...Nazerene doctrine etc. IF THEY DON"T KNOW IT? They don't believe in God or want anything to do with Him..SO why??? WHY?? ERWIN? WHY?

They can't which is why they are not applying for Theology or Congregational staff positions. This whole "The Atheists are coming" in my opinion is dramatic, over the top, and exaggerated.

The atheists have been here and I for one hope they remain.

I have learned more about being a Christian from atheists than from believers here at CF.

Good grief, if you think that's rude, then even the old rules won't do you much good.

And how exactly do you feel about Christians being rude to atheists? To each other? Atheists being rude to each other? No rule against 'rudeness' should be drawing any kind of distinctions. It should be applied equally to all. Thus, not in any way relevant to the matter at hand.

Please cite your sources to express the values you presuppose as Christian. Thanks. Also cite examples of how those values are to be utilized in context of this discussion.

I can give you plenty of examples:

  • Christians who have influenced polls by using sock accounts
  • Christians who have attacked other Christians because of differing beliefs
  • Christians who have attacked non-believers because of differing beliefs
  • Christians who have slandered other Christians with personal information that never should have been released on this site.
  • Christians who have lied about other Christians who were attempting to serve as leaders in the development of rules
  • Christians who published lists of "True Christians" because of public voting.
These are just a few off the top of my head. I am sure I can come up with more.

Shame it's been polling between 10-15 percent ahead for a while now then, ain't it? If you take socks out of it, I think we'll find its quite a bit higher.

Got any evidence to support that, or is it just an unsubstantiated smear?

That has almost nothing to do with what I asked. Please re-read the post in context, thanks.

I imagine some folks generally just tune out TeresalLitleFlower. Some folks might even have her on ignore.

Please go back and read her posts in the previous thread. She is making the most sense so far.

Odd isn't it. I've seen agnostics and atheists do exactly the same thing on this site and others... certainly in the current poll, I can see at least a few socks on both sides that I know about but can't say because of staff confidentiality.

NO, he is being plain rude. I don't appreciate his mocking MY Lord and Savior...HENCE the problem!
Hey, sis

I didn't see it that way. It's all becoming very emotional in here at the moment. Erwin's dumped this dreadful poll on us and we're bickering like children with no real hope of sorting it out either way. This is obviously a really contentious topic, so we should do our best to keep a level head, and not get too angry or upset

Well there is a bit of subjective input for you.

Perhaps you find the concept of equality to be too idealistic for your tastes.

Wow. The Holocaust/Segregation/Apartheid argument AGAIN. I'm afraid the whole equality thing is getting rather boring, we've already explained what we mean at least a dozen times.
