  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello, cygnus :)

You look as if you're having tons of fun with the new camera thing! :D Good on ya for getting it set up so well!

Earl Grey, is it? :p You have lots and lots of books in that room, cyg! And is that an ordinary piano or an electric piano? Do you play it at all? I played the piano this morning with our lad at our service.....a blessed time.

Bless you, cygnus. :)

Hi JS , yes the camera is a lotta fun it makes a snap/grinding sound when it takes a pic and I laugh when it takes one when someone in this room isn't ready ^_^ It isn't the best camera but it does take wide angle views ... it also records vid , so I might make a recording of Joel .

Yes most of the books in this room are buried under cds and films JS , I had little room to put my cds and I am not getting rid of them . Some people put all their cds on an MP3 player then get rid off their cd collection , then the player gets stolen or lost or the hard drive fails and , BANG all their music is gone !!!

It's an ordinary piano , much better than electric , I donb't play it except when I mess about , Joel plays on it and my wife . I am glad to see you still play JS , I have always loved the piano , most of the groups I love have piano , or keyboards , the thing about The Beatles and Queen (who have sold more music than anyone save Elvis) is the piano was central amongst the guitars and drums , in fact I think that the one thing no-one ever discusses is how great a pianist Freddie Mercury was , you just cannot imagine writng Bohemian Rhapsody on any other instrument. Interestingly Brian May did mention Fredds ability on piano in a recent docu on Queen , I was punching the air , he said Fredds style was unusual , playing with his hands down really low , his wrists seemed lower than his fingers , and his timing was like a metronome ..... that is the most overlooked aspect to the whole studio production side of Queen.

This clip (by a fan) will give everyone an insight into how Bohemian Rhapsody sounded before Fred got the rest of the band to play their parts , there is some really fine movements here ;

I don't really understand how they work, cyg. When it takes a photo does that show up for anyone who has a camera thing too? Oh, I just remembered my kids saying you have to allow a person to see you or something? I do try to keep up with technology. :p :D

I so agree.....never get rid of your CDs, cyg. I only have a few and though I've put some on the pc to listen to, save fiddling round with CDs in and out, I'd never get rid of the actual CD. I still have tons of LPs and 45s. :D Did you ever finish putting all your CDs onto your ipod?

We have a tiny room which stores the big gas heater and it has shelves which are full of cartons with my books in them. I only have my special books out in a bookcase. Just too many of them. One day I need to go through them and decide.....but I expect I'll decide I still want all of them. :D Annuals from when I was kid and many, many children's books, which I collect. I haven't been and had a look round for some time, though. Perhaps it's time to go and have another look in the secondhand bookstores. :)

Yes, the ordinary piano is my favourite as well, though I like experimenting with different sounds on synths. It'd be cool to see Joel! :) I still play.....it's 9 years now that I've been playing at our services. :) They don't seem sick of me yet. :D I love playing for the services. I'll always play, cyg, since I'm blessed to have a piano of my own. My grandpa got it from his sister and said to my mum it was to be for me. I love my piano. :) I just sat down and played something as it's here in this room and when I play my fingers aren't flat or anything, but they're not in the traditional high curved position piano teachers insist on. Sort of halfway between, with my wrists level with my hands. I've always played that way and endured heaps of rapped knuckles when I was a kid learning at the Convent. Oh well.....the music happens and that's cool. :D

I enjoyed that last vid about the car. Very interesting stuff. The description of Roger seemed to fit someone else I know, too, cyg, in many ways. :D
