  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good morning everyone. I pray that you have a blessed day in the Lord, and that you are a blessing to others. Remember to be thankful to our Great Father for the blessings he has given you. Walk soft upon the earth, and take no more than what you need. Give to those in need and show kindness to all people as you walk with our Prince of Peace. May each of you be blessed.

Thank you for posting this Spiritwinds. It is a wonderful and thought-provoking story. I have to say, I don't think people see Jesus through me very often. I'm not very much like Him, though I do want to be. I try, but I need to let Him shine through me more often. Thanks for posting that.

I hope everything works out ok. I'll pray for you and your friend. Oh, and thank you for your prayers.

You know, I don't really think about it that much, but when I do I realize how much God has blessed me through you all. It is a blessing just to have someone to talk to about all that I'm going through. You are all a great blessing to me. Thank you all for being here for me and for each other.

Yes, that is a needed reminder. I have been struggling with anger lately. I have been clashing a lot with my sister lately. I suppose I need to feed the good wolf a little more.

Things are going good here now. The only thing that's disagreeable to me is that my family and I are going to have a long drive this weekend. We're going to my oldest sisters wedding this weekend, and it's about a seven hour drive. Then, after the weekend is over, we have to drive seven more hours to get back home. I'd appreciate it if you guys would pray for us to have a safe trip. Unfortunately, that means that I'll disappear from this group for the weekend. I'm sorry I have been gone so much, but it's not really anything I can avoid.

Yes, I can imagine how hard it must be for you. I know we can all help by praying for the indians and for those who harbor resentment towards them. I will pray for them.
I will keep you in prayer for the drive to and from :)

I can honestly say I do not know of any American Indians locally, or even semi-locally. So I wouldn't know where to begin.

The one and only thing I can think of is bringing this to the attention of the local chapter/superintendant-- or however each individuals denomination's chain of command works. Maybe we should be sending letters asking them to appeal to other cultures. Maybe we need to blunt and ask them in what ways are they working to appeal to those other cultures. Maybe we should include reliable statistics for local ethnicities and those abroad. I have no idea how to even acquire that kind of information though.

Even if our group here is nothing but seed planters, it's better than doing nothing-- not that praying is "nothing"-- I mean getting this kind of information out there. I'm really shocked-- speechless, over the information provided.
I agree there, and am kinda in the same boat.
Eldaah... seven hours.. that's a DRIVE! Definitely sending prayers of comfort, safety and peacefulness for everyone. Enjoy your time away!
7 hours isn't too bad, it's fun :)

Prayer is a necessity, but action is also a must. To begin, I recommend this site Warriors for Christ.
I will pray and check out the site.

I pray everyone has had a marvelous Friday so far. I'm swamped with cleaning trying to prepare for this weekend (it's Mother's Day weekend here in the US).

Have a terrific weekend everyone! And Happy Mother's Day to all the moms on here!

I want to return to the topic of reaching the indigenous peoples for Christ. It is an issue that greatly upsets and troubles me. I refuse to accept the reasons why this issue is so widely ignored in the majority of Christian churches. I did bring this up in the Witness forum here, but I have only received two responses since I opened the thread on May 5th. The next two paragraphs is part of what I wrote in response to one reply.

Since the coming of Columbus in 1492, tens of millions of North American Indians have died due to sickness, slavery, massacres, and extermination. The European missionaries looked at Native Spirituality as a worthless superstition inspired by Satan. And for those not slaughtered many were forcibly converted to Christianity. In the last century, NDN spiritual leaders ran the risk of jail sentences of up to 30 years for simply practicing their rituals. But in 1978, this came to an end when the Freedom of Religion Act was passed.

As you can imagine, Christianity is not well received among many NDNs. But seems to me that the majority of churches have already abandoned the souls of unsaved NDNs anyway. Perhaps these churches feel that such a task is an unworthy cause, a waste of time, energy and money to reach the indigenous peoples for Christ. These churches will send their missionaries across the sea to witness to remote villages in the jungle or to Hindus, Buddhists or Muslims, but they will not send their missionaries to an NDN reservation (no matter what the distance). Why is that?

That is the end of my response.

Lord God, help us to get a vision of spiritwind's yearning. Give us just a small piece of her dream to bring Jesus Christ to the NDN Population.

I know that I have a large vision for the homeless and for addicts in my county. Other people do not catch my vision; they misunderstand my passion and walk away saying that I am crazy. But I must! I must carry out this dream God has given me! A shelter/halfway house is needed, and God will provide.

In the same way, spiritwinds spirit is alive with the dream and vision she has for her people to receive Christ. We must lay down our misunderstanding and our apathy and catch the dream. We must pray with her for God's will to be done. For that....my friends....is what Jesus would do.

Dear God, bring spiritwinds prayers to fruition. Bring workers, Holy Spirit anoited workers to bring the gospel to all peoples, especially Native American Indians in all of United States. In Jesus name, Amen.

I am tired of being ignored, disregarded, or shunned for the burning compassion I feel toward all indigenous peoples and their eternal souls. And I am tired of the excuses, the laziness, and the lack of concern for their eternal souls by the majority of Christian churches. There is no excuse for this.

Spiritwinds I'm sorry you are feeling that way. Please understand I'm not ignoring or disregarding the passion the Lord has placed upon your heart. I need time to digest and process all of this, quite honestly, due to my ignorance on all of it.
