  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Onefaithfulservant:
Agreed.
God is just, and the price for sin must always be paid.
BUT - my Judge, whilst He must punish sin, has taken that punishment on Himself so that I may be forgiven!!
This doesn't mean that I should go on sinning - but if I do slip up, He will still forgive me!
I see the point you are making, and agree to a point - but God does not condemn us if we repent!

Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Did I miss something?

You know that is such a complex question! ^_^ I *professed* myself a Christian ~10 years ago. I probably was null and void of it's true meaning for the first several years. Around ~5 years I had really begun to involve myself and God started evolving me. Around year 7 I had some problems we moved (I wasn't too fond of the area) and I was under some serious attacks. Once I moved past that I chose to make a harder and bigger effort to become a better and more mature Christian.

It's different for me though as I am (within reason and some degree) unequally yoked. It's not ugly or excruciating at home like some couples are, but it's not the ideal setting either (particularly when children are involved). So all of this is pretty much on my own with very little to no support at home.

Yes, I suppose my salvation story is sort of like yours. I got saved sometime in 1996 and I did truly get saved, but there weren't very many changes in my life until I got a little older. About five years ago, I went to this really awesome Christian camp in KY, and that's when my life started to change more.

Praise God. I'll be praying for you.
BUT - don't underestimate what you have already done for Him!!

22 years!
Of which I have probably spent the first five or so and the past two in a right relationship with Him. The ones in between weren't so good. But praise God, He never gave up on me!!

22?! Wow. That's awesome. How old were you when you then?

That's awesome, hitting the street is great. Being a geek myself, I tend to hit the net more.

How long have I been saved, good question.
I grew up going to church, I first gave my life to Christ when I was around 10, I think.

Cool. So you've been saved for 15 years?

I can go door-to-door handing out tracts or just talkling to people about Christ

Great idea. :) My favorite speaker/author, who also has a program on TV, started out by taking tracts door to door exactly as you are planning to do. You might encounter some difficulties, and it might not always feel like important work, but you will be blessed for doing what you can do.

Hey all, I was wondering, how long have you all been saved. I was thinking about it and I was just wondering. I have been saved for about 10 years (I think), what about you guys?

23 years.

I was saved at 17 after being encouraged to attend different church services and youth groups with my best friend for five years! One night at a Youth For Christ meeting I was overcome by the Holy Spirit while reading the poem FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND. I told a counsiler about my experience and she said a prayer of salvation with me.

I went home that night telling everyone in my family about my new found friend, Jesus. They thought I was nuts. That was the general thought, in my family, about Christians who talked about their faith. :( Well, my mom thought it was kind of cool that I had found Jesus, but she kept those thoughts to herself for the most part. Despite their reaction, I continued to be excited about my new relationship with my Savior and continued to talk about it for months until I moved out to go to college.

I was fired up for the Lord for about one year. Then all the influences that one encounters in college flooded my life. I strayed a bit and even became unequally-yoked at that time. It's been a struggle to stay focused on God, but I have tried to do what I can even though I made my own circumstances more difficult than they had to be.

My children (ages 6 & 9) both say that they love the Lord and are excited that the Holy Spirit lives in them. :) In fact my 6yo told me that he witnessed to one of his first grade friends the other day. :D

My husband has worked hard to make my faith a scary thing for our children. They are very aware that their father (on earth) does not believe in Jesus or a God who cares about us and blesses our lives. But, just last night they both asked me to read some Bible stories. Then my six year old son led us in prayer! They want to talk about God with me more and more all the time. Praise God!

These are things we all need to pray for. Not only for ourselves, but for each other as well. Especially the part about Serving Him with a willing heart.

Yes, it won't be easy for me, because I am the kind of person who doesn't even like asking people a simple question because I get nervous when interacting with people I don't know.

That's awesome Kanga! I love hearing peoples testimonies. From what you've said, it looks like you are setting a good example for your children to follow. I pray that they stay by Christ's side through every trial, and that they rely on Him always. You are in a very difficult situation, yet you are still living for the Lord. Praise the LORD!

I read some of it, and I have felt the same way sometimes. Like I was just wasting my time on pointless stuff. I still feel that I am wasting a lot of time on CF. That is, I feel that everything I do on this forum, aside from this thread, is useless. I think I will from now on only post in threads that have worth. I'm not condemning anyone who does go to the other parts of this forum, but I believe that in my situation Jesus would do this. I will stay on this thread, because I believe that this group has the power to change the world around us. We are servants of the almighty God! He can use us to change this sinful world, and to bring many to Himself. If it weren't for this group, and the encouragement I get from you all, I would leave CF. But I feel led to stay and Serve HIM online as well as in real life.

Don't leave!!!!!

I know how you feel - I have also come to a point lately where I have left a lot of threads, as I don't want to waste time I could be spending with God. But some threads, such as this one, do build my faith, and that is important too. Also, I find I am spending more time in the prayer and outreach forums, where I can help others.
So - on balance, I won't be leaving, but am trying too spend less time here and more with Him!!

Bless you - you are certainly serving Him here, don't ever doubt that!!

That is the joy of huge forums, some areas to waste time, and others are great worth. We just need to balance what we do, there are many good and helpful threads I have found here, as well as many more pointless but fun ones.
I agree that there is a great work we can do online, the internet can be used as a powerful tool for God.
I am glad that you feel lead to stay :)

Hello everyone!

I must say I was very saddened to read GM's blog. I'm really going to miss her very much.

I must say I'm intrigued by GM leaving and Eldaah and Criada's feeling towards threads lately. Why? Because I've kind of been feeling the same way.

Eldaah... will be praying for your sister.

Sending prayers for everyone today!

I've been really struggling with temptations lately and I've given in to them a lot as well. I've been failing a lot. I have been feeling more and more willing to serve Him though. I want to serve Him and be of use to Him, but I keep on doing things that I know He doesn't want me to do.

I'm keeping you all in my prayers. I love you all. You are true friends. God bless you all!

Love In Christ,
Chase

I am struggling too - but when I think back a few months, I realise that I would not have even noticed some of the sin!
He has brought us so far, and "I am confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."(Philippians 1:6)
Praise God for your willingness to serve Him!
This is why we are being tempted - satan hates seeing anyone getting serious about serving God! But we have the victory!

Romans 8
9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Praying for all of you,
Have a great day!
