  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My wife and I find that the only way to make it work is to schedule out everything throughout the week (even our weekly date is scheduled!) and to do a little work each day to make sure that it all gets done by the end of the week. If anything didn't get done, and Sunday rolls around, we simply leave it until Monday. It takes some getting used to, but it is more than worth it. I would not be able to get up and go to work on Monday if I did not have my complete relaxation day on Sunday. (I do "work" with my church... 5 hours setting up our sound system, running the system, and tearing it down, but Christ was pretty clear on ministry not counting as "breaking" the sabbath... even so, I still have every third week to completely do nothing).

Oh, and good morning all! :D

Morning my friend.
We need to make you some robots to aid in the setup. That would be fun.
But, you have a wonderful point, yay for schedules.

That was me. I recently found my old account that I had lost the password to, and I forgot to log out and switch back to me.
Well, that solves the mystery
Sorry bout that.

Good afternoon all.

I am very near to the end of "In His Steps" and I was wondering if any of you have read it before. I have found it to be a very moving book. So, have you read it?
I will see if I can read it, good I take it?

Hey, everyone

Am beginning to see a little progress, I think. In the General Apologetics section, I spent much of the day debating a man who's... difficult, let's say, and even a week ago, I would've been tearing my hair out within 5 minutes and imagining it was his, but I was very aware of the fact that Jesus loves him anyway. He loves atheists even when they don't love Him back; and He loves us, and we can love difficult people, too. Even when they're mean. So I was able to debate him calmly and peacefully, and wasn't even tempted to bite when he baited. It felt really good. Praise God!

Awesome, that's great to hear. And you have a wonderful point, God loves us all, and since He loves us, we can love them.
I know it can be hard to talk to people like that, but God is good and will help ya.

Yes, we can love all people. I believe it's a choice we need to make.

So tell me GM... how hard or easy was it? Do you feel you had more compassion or empathy knowing this members proud profession?

Do you feel God was there guiding and helping you?

Well that's the thing, isn't it. I actually said to the guy in the thread, none of us Christians are any better than him; we're here literally by the grace of God, so who are we to decide he doesn't deserve love like we do

Exactomundo, dude :D

Humm, those are such good questions, dear one. Hummm. No, actually, it was pretty easy. I felt sad for him more than anything. I actually told him I was sad that he wasn't in a loving relationship with Christ and oddly enough, I think that kinda took the anger-wind out of his sails, insofar as, he didn't feel he was being attacked personally. I can remember how lonely life without Jesus is, and that was my focus, really. That and the fact that God loves him enough to allow him to not believe.

God was definitely leading me, I think. Cos a while back, it would've escalated into a battle of intellectual wits, with my ego taking over, but it just didn't happen like that. God's grace and beauty remained the focus so I know that came from Him. God is so cool

That's awesome! Hopefully, someday that guy will come to know Christ in a personal way. We should pray for him.
