  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If the gates of Hell shall never prevail against the Church, then the Protestant concept of the "Great Apostasy" could hever have happened. The true Church would need to survive in some form from the beginning of the faith to the end of time.

Thus the assumption by many that the rcc is that survivor, which I reject.

It's amazing that Protestants are able to argue that their positions are "Bible-based."

I think there's some serious kookiness in all the branches, whether they be orthodox, non-orthodox, protestant, rcc, denomnainal, non-denominainal, et al.

If the gates of Hell cannot prevail against the Church (Matthew 16:18), then your premise is false.

Perhaps it wasn't the Devil at work, but men of genuine conviction and faith who just happened to be wrong, or who happened to let their personal biases and the biases of the contemporary culture affect their message? Tertullian comes to mind, in that regard.

It did.

Thank you, Martin Luther!

How do we correlate this with:
"Knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified."
